Ravi needs our help. Now.
Dear Friends of Ravi and New Sanctuary Coalition As many of you know, Ravi Ragbir, New Sanctuary’s inspiring executive director, was detained by ICE this morning when he appeared for his scheduled check-in. Needless to say, this unjust and, we believe, unlawful act by ICE is being challenged in the courts by Ravi’s legal team. It also is being challenged on the phones, on social media and in the streets by all of us who supports Ravi and immigrants’ rights.
Let us make one thing clear, this is not the end of anything. This is the beginning of a fight that will result in Ravi being released to his family and his community. And New Sanctuary will be made stronger than ever as we wage this fight.
Eighteen people were arrested today as they non-violently protested Ravi’s removal from 26 Federal Plaza, where he was detained by ICE. Among those arrested were City Council Members Jumanne Williams and Ydanis Rodriguez. If you are available to support them all, please email Nathan Yaffe directly a Nathan.email@example.com or text to 913-522-0569.
All New Sanctuary’s work will continue as usual — our Accompaniment Program will go ahead as always and the Pro Se Clinic will proceed as usual on Tuesday. We will not be deterred from the work we need to do.
Now more than ever we need to show the power of our community. If you would like to get updates on future actions and news as it becomes available, please text ISTANDWITHRAVI to 41411.
Love and Solidarity to all of you.
