@artyrocio anticipates an insightful grouping of American painters at Frieze New York 2018, including painters Ralph Humphrey, Al Loving, Howardena Pindell, and Jaune Quick-to-See Smith in ‘Thick Paint: 1957–2002’, presented at the fair by @garthgreenangallery

Find out what @brooklynmuseum's Catherine Morris is looking forward to at this year's fair, including @galerielelong and @kavigupta_'s risky approaches to migration, borders, colonialism, and the politics of identity that challenge the current political proscenium. Frieze New York returns to @randallsisland, May 3–6, 2018 (link in bio)

The cover of our brand new (free) Frieze Week magazine! Look out for it on the ferries to @randallsisland, at the fair and in select locations across New York. Regram from @loringrandolphny

"Let’s face it, the current resident of the White House is a dick".
Watch @mira_schor talk politics and her Frieze New York presentation, in the Lyles & King booth in the Spotlight section. She will present four never before exhibited “Dick” paintings from 1988-1991.

One of Robert Motherwell's most important paintings in his entire oeuvre will be on display in the @jacobsongallery booth. Motherwell himself said of the painting. "If Abstract Expressionism is defined as it usually is, then this work is probably my most purely Abstract Expressionist work of the period.” The presentation will also feature two other major 20th century artists, Sam Francis and Henri Matisse. NEW! Join 2018 Pulitzer Prize-winning art critic @jerrysaltz's talk, entitled “Art World Lost > Art World Regained” at 6pm on Thursday, May 3 at #friezeny. Presented in partnership with @nymag. Free for all Thursday preview ticket holders.

@hankwillisthomas talks through his Frieze New York presentation. Fair-goers will enter the fair under the artist's fabric works, each recalling the American flag but with stars that number lives lost by gun violence in recent years. Filmed at the @jackshainman by @labushell. The ‘What We Ask Is Simple’ exhibition is on show at the gallery until May 12. Link in bio for #friezeny tickets

Watch @jordannassar talk about his embroidered collection for @anatebgigallery’s booth in the Frame section at Frieze New York. He uses textiles to represent the Palestine that exists only in the minds of the diaspora Palestinians and the yearning that exists for this dreamer utopia. 🎥 by @labushellLink in bio for #friezeny tickets

A solo exhibition from South Africa’s art star @kemangwalehulere at the @stevenson_za booth (D23). @creativetimenyc’s Elvira Dyangani Ose picked the artist as a must see:
"Whether scrutinizing episodes in the history of South Africa, or his own past as an artist, memory always takes sudden twists in his hands... in riposte, his works gesture toward steps into the future. Choosing to engage with a myriad of media for realization, his practice surprises me, exhibition after exhibition."

This moment of intimacy captured by photographer @nangoldinstudio will be featured alongside seminal figure of American modern art @annetruitt in the @matthewmarksgallery booth at Frieze New York. Other major figures of the 20th-century art world who will appear elsewhere in the fair include David Hockney, Barbara Bloom and Joseph Kosuth. Link in bio for tickets.

Watch out for Lara Schnitger's feminist protest-procession traversing Randall's Island during the Fair. The group will be adorned with banners, sculptures, quilts and will perform a "whisper network", an audible vocalization bubbling up from a soft murmur to a cracking shout. Within the Live booth, Schnitger is installing an interactive sequin-graffiti wall to enable fair-goers to express their hopes, fears, misgivings and desires.
