Freshwater Biodiversity Workshop: The Application of Biodiversity to Water Quality this Saturday!
Saturday August 25th from 10am to 1pm
The workshop will be based on freshwater biodiversity where we will be both sampling BMI in the lake and also teaching the basics of identification. For anyone interested in adding a biological component to water quality monitoring, this is an opportunity to learn how to use invertebrates as proxies for pollution, eutrophication and disturbance. Meet in front of the VC Golf House - enter the park at Van Cortlandt Park South and Bailey Avenue.

Sorry we just found that today’s rowboating with Village Community Boathouse, Pier 40 NYC has been canceled because of the forecast of thunderstorms. Next Friday is their last week so fingers crossed the weather will be good.

It’s a great day when you are greeted by boxes and boxes of your favorite granola bars at the office. Thank you @americanhiking and @naturevalleybars for providing enough granola bars to feed our volunteers and hike participants this fall!

We are loving all of the Purple Coneflower around the Park almost as much as the bees are.

It’s still muggy out and there’s an ominous dark cloud hovering over #vancortlandtpark but there’s still plenty of people enjoying the little breeze in our beautiful park. Many plants are in bloom including the Franklinia tree on the @vchmnyc grounds.
