Strathcona Provincial Park has so much history. Much of its history is written in the well-travelled trails that people have been hiking for decades...and some of that history is written (litterally) in the trees, on the various signs sprinkled along the trails in the park (swipe right to see some examples)

Fun fact: Strathcona Provincial Park is the oldest Provincial Park in B.C

Thank you @ehmannally and @sebastianlp90 modelling (unintentionally) and putting up with my photography.

Still drooling over the wild blueberries up in the subalpine that were everywhere during our overnight backpacking trip in September. The first snow of the season is now falling up on the mountains and I'm finally getting excited for what winter will bring. .

Man, does this weather make me want to go back to summer. Especially when I look at this photo of @ermagherdherpsters and I's camping setup from two weekends ago. Happy to hear that we are forecasted to get a break from the rain and wind this weekend.

Take a minute out of each day to appreciate the 'little' things and to remind yourself of what you are thankful for. .

For me, in that moment, it was good company, beautiful views, and fresh air.

The transition from summer to fall has to be my favorite time of the year. It's not too hot, not too cold, making it perfect for hiking adventures. Up in the subalpine, the plant life is changing colours...not to mention, there are wild blueberries EVERYWHERE. .

Trust the whiskey jacks to be anywhere you are in the Strathcona Provincial Park. .

Nothing better than a west coast sunset! .

We (@ermagherdherpsters and I) spent last weekend relaxing (for a change) and visiting family on Hornby Island. While there, we caught wind of a new Cidery that recently opened its doors. Highly recommend! .

When the hike ends with a lake like this, it really doesn't get much better. Hiking up part of Mount Septimus to find this little gem, Love Lake, was a highlight for sure of our Della Falls hiking trip. Just over 8km round trip up steep switchbacks is worth it when you get to finish off with views of the peak of Mount Septimus and Mount Rousseau in the background. .

God I love this dog. I never thought that the first dog that I would get in my adult life would be this easy-going, this easy to train, or just...an all around personable and well-rounded dog. His personality and his eagerness to join in on my adventures compliment my life and my ambitions so well. I'm really just spoiled, how good a boy he is. I know that everyone says that their dog is the best, but mine are pretty darn great.

It's views like this that make it all worth it. Seeing the top of Canada's tallest waterfall was certainly a highlight of this summer. With only a month of true summer weather left, I'm hoping to get out on at least a few more hikes before the end of the season. .
However, with the wildfires burning strongly right now in much of the province, some of the trails that I had on my list will have to wait until next season...which I am more than OK with. Hiking trails can wait until next year but forests take centuries to grow back once destroyed. I'm really hoping for rain...and lots of it: Funny to say out loud when only two months ago all I could think about was sunny beach days. .

Della falls was something like a ferry tale. Minutes before I took this photo, I was told by a hiker coming from the other direction that there had been a bear on that bridge. .
