Got a picky eater? Little Anderson used to snub his nose at leafy greens. He also didn't want to combine his food. Food cultivation is learned just like picky eating can be enabled by us well meaning parents. Create opportunities where kids have to get out of their comfort zone a bit. Even if they only eat a bite. Talk about fruit and veg like they are amazing, delicious foods- cause they are!! Be enthusiastic and understanding and never label your kid a picky eater. New tastes can be cultivated! This kid STRONGLY disliked figs until this week. We kept buying and talking about them and trying them. Now a few years later he loves them and begged for them at the store! It's all about the brainwashing, friends. 😏 πŸ˜† We talk about our favorite fruits and veggies frequently, gush over the produce section and tell them that they GET to pick a fruit or veg at the store! (Said with enthusiasm and implied importance). When one of my littles doesn't like something I say, "oh you haven't acquired that taste yet. Maybe next time! You tried something new and that's AWESOME!" All the brainwashing. Both my kids have scoffed at veggies as toddlers and will now happily eat them! It takes time and perseverance. Just add freshly toasted pine nuts, baby spinach (don't be shy!), fresh basil, lemon juice, salt, pepper and garlic powder into a food processor. Quick homemade muesli, aka 'cold oatmeal.' Takes 15 minutes to make, throw it together while fixing your coffee, by the time the kids are dressed this is DONE. 1 part rolled oats, 2 parts plant milk, 1 tbsp ground flax, handful chopped walnuts, handful frozen blueberries, handful of raisins.
