Leaving a little piece of my heart in Jersey - one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in all my life. 💙

We have had the most amazing time over the last few days. From the lighthouse at St Ouens Bay to zip-lining at Tamba Park; exploring at Elizabeth Castle to tractor rides at AMaizing Adventure Park; playing on the beach at St Brelade to ice creams at St Helier, we have crammed in so much fun and made so many memories to treasure for always. .

Thank you to @visitjerseyci @officialcondorferries @thehampshirehotel I can’t wait to share our adventures with you all! #visitjerseyci #theislandbreak #presstrip

Three weeks into the summer holidays, when I’m tired and ill and a little fed up, when the kids are arguing and whining and relentlessly following me from room to room, when the laundry basket is full and the house looks like we’ve been burgled, ten times over, this photo is just the reminder I need of how very lucky I am. .
.
Taken at our friends wedding by the amazingly talented @heathercapturephotography , I can remember how, in the midst of all of the drunken dancing, when I, The designated driver, remained completely sober, how my beautiful Meggy and I were completely lost in that moment. I remember how warm she felt against my chest, how she lay her little cheek against my shoulder, and how I wished that we could freeze time and stay that way forever. .
.
During the next three weeks, on the inevitably tough days when I’m wishing for September to come back around, I want to remember this moment right here and know that they are only little for such a short time. And I want to try, really, REALLY hard, to cherish every single moment. Even the really irritating ones. 😉

To all parents struggling this summer - hang on in there, you’ve got this. 🙌

New blog post - Our Spanish Adventure: Eurocamp, Sanguli (link in bio)

After sorting through the bazillion photos, and struggling to cut them down to no less than 73 (🙈) my review is now live!! I would love you to pop over and have a read and as always I appreciate your feedback. We genuinely had the best time and I really hope that comes across in my post. .
.
As I say in my review, to anyone debating whether to book @eurocampholidays for your family holiday, my advice would be just do it. Make the booking, make the memories, and prepare to have the absolute summer of your lives. 😍 #presstrip #eurocamp @sangulisalou

New blog post - Nothing in life is free.....even when you’re a blogger. (Link in bio) .
.
Last week when I shared a holiday photo on my Facebook page, the most ‘delightful lady’ commented how nasty I was to be sharing what a great time I was having on my “free holiday” when most people with four kids couldn’t even afford a holiday. .
.
I’ll be honest with you, that comment really stung. I was sad to think that someone would feel hurt by my excitement at our holiday. But once that initial shock had worn off, and once I realised that this lady was nothing more than a troll, I actually felt pretty annoyed. Not at her judgment of my character, nor the fact that her statement was completely untrue, but because of two words which actually made my blood boil - free holiday. .
.
Let me tell you, my ‘free holiday’ was about as free as your monthly pay check, and I am sharing exactly why I find it so offensive to suggest otherwise over on the blog today. 😡

It’s hard to believe that this time last week we were basking in 40 degree temperatures, lounging around the pool, enjoying time together without a care in the world. .
.
Fast forward a week and we are all under the weather, drinking Lemsips in our winter pyjamas, feeling more than a little bit sorry for ourselves. If only we had a rewind button..... #takemeback

At 14 Lewis is at a funny age when it comes to reading, no longer into children's books but not quite interested in adult fiction. Lately he has been reading Aberrations The Beast Awakens, a new series from Joseph Delaney, bestselling author of the Spook's series, and it has been a big hit with him! .
.
I haven't seen him enjoy a book in this way for a long time and with a cleverly written plot of adventure, monsters and exciting characters, it really kept his interest. So much so that, after he had finished it he packed it in his bag for our summer holiday to Spain to enjoy all over again by the pool. That in itself speaks volumes! .
.
If you have children aged 9 and over we definitely recommend it, you can find a swipe up link in my instastories to buy it! #ad #josephdelaney #reading #booksforteens #yards

At the start of the Summer I promised the children six weeks of adventures and, thanks to the blog, we are doing exactly that. 😍

This week the children and I have been down in Bournemouth, combatting the post-holiday blues with a little UK sunshine. Today we were joined by my lovely friend Laura and her two gorgeous girls, to enjoy an #oddbodsdayout and experience the new VUER app on board National Express coaches. They are now showing Oddbods episodes to entertain the children when travelling and it’s safe to say these five loved it! As a parent I think it’s a great idea and, as I learned from the nightmare 9 hour drive down here, entertaining the kids on the road is a must!! 😐
.
.
It was so lovely for Laura and I to have the children finally meet and adorable to see them running around together, holding hands and chattering away like old friends. We had such a fab day riding the Bournemouth wheel, playing pitch and putt, doing crafts on the pier and playing on the beach. I honestly think that this might be my favourite summer we’ve ever shared. 😍 #oddbods #ad @dearbearandbeany @nigelclarketv @hellocommsgroup @nationalexpress

And just like that our holiday is over and what an amazing time we have had. It feels like the last week has passed in a blur of sunshine, fun, laughter, and lots and lots of love. 😍
.
.
We have made so many memories during our week at @eurocampholidays It’s a holiday I will look back on in years to come and remember as the year the youngest children flew on an aeroplane for the very first time, their little eyes wide with amazement; the year Eva learned to swim under water, without armbands, zooming down slides and diving without fear. .
.
The year we swam in Spanish seas, ate chocolate croissants for breakfast and lime ice lollies at lunch. The year the children believed they were pirates and unicorns, when they asked me, “Why is everyone speaking so funny?”; when they ran around in just their swimming trunks, their skin tanned and their hair white. .
.
The year Lewis and Gaz rode rollercoasters at Portaventura, battled it out in boiling temperatures at table tennis, when I loved every single moment of not having to share my boy for an entire week. The year we watched shows and ate pizza, strolled along the promenade and felt the sand in our shoes; the year everyone whinged a little less, laughed a little harder, and slept a whole lot more. .
.
The year we woke to glorious sunshine each morning, when we swam in the pool from morning til night, when we lived each day without a care in the world, the worries of daily life felt a million miles away. .
.
And yet undoubtedly, one of my favourite memories of our holiday is each night after dinner, when we would walk to the show or back to our lodge, and the children would look up at the sky, seek out the brightest star, and tell me, “There’s Joseph! He came with us!”. And my heart has never felt so full as it did in those moments. 💙
.
.
We have been so incredibly lucky to spend this time together as a family and one thing is for sure, it may have been our first visit to @eurocampholidays but it certainly won’t be our last. I can’t wait to share it all with you this coming week! #presstrip

“We didn’t know we were making memories, we just thought we were having fun.” .
.
Literally having the time of our lives here in Spain at @eurocampholidays I’m still pinching myself at how very lucky we are. #presstrip

We are having the most amazing time here in Salou, Spain at @eurocampholidays @sangulisalou .
.
When I fell pregnant with Harry (completely unplanned!) one of our biggest concerns about becoming a family of 6 was how we would ever be able to take the children abroad (priorities 🤣). We assumed it would be too expensive, and too stressful, and as much as we love our UK holidays, I felt sad when the children asked why they have never been on an aeroplane, or what it was like to go to another country. .
.
Being here has made me realise that the world is a great big place and, although we certainly won’t get to see all of it, we do want to see more of it. I don’t think I realised how lovely it would be to see the children’s faces as the plane took off for the first time (despite my own terror!), or how excited they would be to hear someone speak in Spanish for the very first time. Everything is different to them, everything is exciting, and seeing it through their eyes is pretty special. .
.
We have spent the last two days at the pool, enjoying the sunshine, and the children have never been happier. Sure they’ve whinged occasionally, although certainly less than usual, but their eyes are wide and their laughs are deeper, and I just know that this is a holiday they will remember for always. I hope these next 5 days last forever!! 😍 #presstrip

I’ve made no secret of the fact that I am TERRIFIED of flying, something that anyone who has had the misfortune to sit next to me on a plane will verify. To be honest it isn’t even just flying as such, it’s a whole host of fears, of irrational thoughts and improbable panic - engine failure, bird strikes, lightning bolts, terrorist attacks, suicidal pilots.....
.
.
And I’m sure most of you are reading this thinking oh dear god woman, get a grip, but it’s like telling someone who is scared of heights not to look down, or someone who is scared of spiders that spiders are more scared of them. We all have our own irrational fears, it’s just that for some reason I appear to have way more than most. 😐
.
.
Because, in all honesty, anxiety impacts on my life in so many ways, manifesting in a thousand different crazy thoughts that I may never dare to say out loud (seriously, even crazier than suicidal pilots!), but one thing is for sure, I refuse to pass those anxieties on to my own children. .
.
And so tomorrow, when we get to the airport and I feel as though I’m going to pass out with panic, or when we get on the plane and my heart is beating out of my chest, I’ll do my best to smile and tell the children how exciting it is to be going on holiday. And when we take off and my knuckles are white with fear, or the plane judders and I’m screaming inside that the end is nigh, I’ll hold these little hands tight and tell them there is nothing at all to be scared of. Because that’s what us mums do, right? .
.
I’m sure (well more like 60:40) that this time tomorrow I will be safely landing in Spain, ready to spend an amazing week with my favourite people, wondering what all the fuss was about.....fingers crossed hey? 🙏
