❇️ 5 Diet/Nutritional Myths Debunked ❇️

1️⃣ Don't Eat Carbs at Night, You'll Put on Body Fat. ❌ Wrong - In fact, there might be a benefit for most people because going to bed on a full stomach helps you sleep, and if you workout in the morning, a carb-rich meal will potentially improve your performance in the gym. It also will not spike your insulin or store as fat because you're sleeping - so long as you don't over-eat (see below).

2️⃣ When You Eat is More Important Than How Much You Eat for Fat Loss - ❌ Wrong - While nutrient timing can be beneficial for boosting performance for a workout or refueling post-workout, there is no correlation with nutrient timing and fat loss. Fat loss is simply a function of calories in vs calories burned. It's as simple as that.

3️⃣ Counting Calories Isn't Necessary - Just Eat Clean Food to Lose Fat. ❌ Wrong - As stated above, this statement is false. Yes, there's a difference between how protein, fat and carbohydrates are processed; All calories are not created equal in that regard and you should always look for quality calories vs junk calories. However, everything breaks down and releases heat energy in the end, which is measured as a calorie. This energy is the primary variable you need to manipulate to directly impact changes in body composition. In other words, if you don't spend at least some portion of time in a calorie deficit, you will NOT lose body fat.

4️⃣ You Need to Lose Weight to Lower Your Body Fat Percentage. ❌ Wrong - If your scale weight remains the same, but you add lean mass to your frame, your body fat percentage will be lower. This is called re-composition and it's the preferred way to go about building muscle and staying lean. There's no cutting, no bulking, you just stay around the same body weight year round (or get slightly heavier) but slowly add muscle.

5️⃣ Eating 5-6 Smaller Meals Per Day is Better for Weight Loss than 3 Meals - ❌ Wrong - Again this goes to Calories in vs Calories Burned. Use whatever schedule works for you. If you're trying to lose weight, just make sure you’re in a calorie deficit.

Time sure flies⏱✈️, so whatever resolutions you may have for 2018, you’re hopefully making progress towards fulfilling them. Right?

Wait... what? You quit them already? Chances are you did as only 8% of people who make resolutions actually fulfill them. If you’ve already quit on your resolutions, here is something to consider to get back on track:

Clearly, your resolution really wasn’t that important to you. If you thought you wanted to lose weight and be more fit, you clearly didn’t want it more than you want that slice of pizza or that extra hour of sleep you needed to give up to get to the gym.

This is just one example of a common resolution. Maybe yours had to do with parenting, business or improving your relationship with your spouse. Whatever it was, the same advice applies.

Maybe it’s time to think of something that you really want to change in your life enough to make the sacrifices necessary to effectuate the change. Or simply re-prioritize your initial desires so they sit at the top of the priorities list.

I rescued Karma from the shelter. She had been abused and abandoned. They took her newborn puppies and left her to die in an abandoned home. Today she is an incredibly loving and loyal companion.

Please don’t ever buy a dog. Go to your shelter and rescue one - not only is there a huge need, they absolutely make the most loyal dogs. They will spend their lives showing you how grateful they are for your act of kindness.
