Since pregnancy I am so much more sensitive to scents and especially perfume. I'm at the point that I can hardly tolerate anything with a fragrance. Even pretty natural ones. It gets right up in my nose and throat and drives me cookoo pants . πŸ˜¬πŸ™„ .

On the other hand, my digestion has improved remarkably. Like fingers crossed amazingly good. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ (prolactin the breastfeeding may also have an impact this so I'm hoping things stay good even after weaning). .

Hormones are incredible and they have a huge impact on us in EVERY way. Estrogens and progesterone are our main female hormones and not to be underestimated when it comes to feeling our best. .

I've just started tracking my cycle again postpartum. I use FAM (fertility awareness method) and have been for years. (Reference the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility for more info. IMO every woman should read this book!). I used this method and the @kindara_fertility app to avoid pregnancy and then also to get pregnant. .

One of the things it did for me was really open my eyes to my own hormone levels and cycle and the way my body works. (This happens with anything we track and that's what tracking helps with progress and change). .

Did you know you can change the length of time between ovulation and your period by taking vitamin b6? I added 3 days to my luteal phase. Super interesting stuff. 😍❀ #causeagirlsgottaknow

I'm working hard to get my protein in these days! It's funny that before having a baby that was never a problem but it's a tad busy around here lately and not a lot of time to spend on cooking and eating πŸ˜œπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Let's just say I'm pretty glad I had abandoned the outdated idea that we have to eat 6x a day, or every 3 hours for best health and physique results (you don't btw). That was a lot of work back then. 🀣 I'm currently enjoying three square meals a day and maybe one snack depending on the day. All have about 25-35 grams of protein and a mix of fats and carbs. Very convenient, satisfying and satiating. Needed for breastfeeding too! 😍
This was dinner tonight. DELICIOUS! The chicken is from @trulocal and it's the bone in breast. I brushed with a bit of homemade (not my home πŸ˜‰) hot sauce, local maple syrup and avocado oil and we grilled it up. πŸ‘ŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌ The trick with chicken is not to overlook it. You want it juicy and tender. Mmmmm πŸ˜‹ .

This past week has been one filled with compromise. .

I was able to finally get a much needed hair cut for the first time in ages (thank you @fchairsalon 😍) and we made the day into a really nice family outing including lunch, margarita(s) and ice cream. πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌ Probably our first family date and it was a great day. ❀ .

I had to cancel plans last minute because baby (and me) had go to the doctor. Everything turned out to be ok. I also had to cancel plans after a sleepless night to manage a cranky baby and nap time. I have amazing friends who understand though and said baby is thriving. She rolled on her own and found her feet this week and she is so happy and proud of herself. Also look at those fabulous juicy thighs! 😍 πŸ™ŒπŸΌβ€ .

I haven't been able to workout this week but I have been on some really great daily walks❀ .

I wasn't able to be a part of the @safonline show this year. I sit on the judging panel and I had planned on it but I just couldn't make it happen. I was disappointed with not being able to see my fitness fam and do something I enjoy but Instead I did have a successful (non screaming) car ride with my baby girl and we made it to the beach and family BBQ we may have otherwise missed. Daddy and Evvie had their first hour home alone this morning while I did groceries BY MYSELF. This is the first time I have been by myself in 19 weeks! 😱 It wasn't long and daddy may have felt slightly overwhelmed with a fussy bebe but we did it!πŸ˜‰β€ .

As I type this, all of those things sound so silly and minute, but for me, right now, in this season of my life they feel big. Like almost huge. We are learning. It's all new and changing so fast. I'm trying my best to eat well, hydrate, sleep, exercise, stretch, read, be a great wife, sister, daughter, friend, coach, mentor (and Insta post writer? 😜). But most of all I'm trying to the best mom I can be. This means when it come to some (a lot) of those other things I falter. I just do. And that's ok. It has to be ok. Mamahood changes your priorities in every kind of way. (More than I could ever have imagined!)β€πŸ™πŸΌWorking on it all though and finding what works for me NOW. Day by day. A lot can happen in one year! -
A year ago this week I found out I was pregnant with this sweet little dolly. Evangeline took 7 months (of us trying to get pregnant) to find her way into my womb and another 41.5 weeks to join us on the outside. Everyday I look at her and can't believe all of that created this. I also can't believe how quickly she's growing and changing! So much fun πŸŒΌπŸ’› -

I've been so much more active with posting stories than I have here. I kinda feel like unless I have a fab photo or a lot to say about any one particular topic it's better as just a snippet. That way if it's boring as hell its only there for 24 hours 😜😜. Plus, I can't for the life of me take a really nice photo of my meals, or anything for that matter, with this tiny dictator around 🀣🀣
So basically life revolves around my four month old. πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ΆπŸ»πŸ’•whom by the way I am in love with. She changes daily! (She loves a good selfie this kid πŸ€³πŸΌπŸ‘©πŸ»πŸ‘ΆπŸ»πŸ˜‚)

We have a fairly decent routine going that includes walking and workouts whenever we can. Things change on a dime so the actual routine is just the framework. Some days I get a decent lift session in πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ’ͺ🏼 somedays it's a baby incorporated workout, some days it's a dance in the kitchen or handstands and downward dog in the living room kind of day and some days are just a bust. I try to move everyday because I feel better when I do but there's no guilt if I don't get a chance. -

What I have found most helpful so far is just being completely flexible with my methods. There's no specific time, meal, outfit or routine I need to have or do before hand. I don't need to get to a gym or even lift weights if I can't. Having some equipment at home helps a lot though. Especially since most session are pretty short. If I can't get under the bar πŸ‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ (or away from her πŸ‘ΆπŸ») I at least just do something like the baby hip thrusts and frog pumps in my stories. Or the park workout I posted the other day.
No high intensity cardio happening yet. I'm spending that time on the cortisol lowering walks. Good for both Evvie and me at this point πŸ˜πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ°. I'm not doing much in the way of planning those workouts. Just taking things one day at a time seems to work best for now. Very different than my pre baby workout routine that's for sure πŸ˜€πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ#dowhatchagottado

We've had a challenging few days, heck let's be real, it's all challenging. It's actually true, babies really are sooooo much work. Like 24/7 intense. BUT even so this little being has taken over my heart, my life, my soul 😍😍😍❀❀❀. I read a caption over on @sollybabywrap about how quick it all goes by and I can't say it any better. All the changes are happening so fast, it's flying by and I don't want to miss any of it. Even the hard stuff. Oh life. It's crazy ❀ P.S how cute is she!? Sweetest thing too (when she's not fighting the sleep 😜) Heheh

I was a very 9 months pregnant here and I didn't feel my best. I was swollen and retaining water and carrying a huge belly around but I'm so glad we did that photo shoot and that I have these photos! I'm so glad I have all the photos of this crazy thing my body did! .

This reminds me, just take the damn photos! So many times we don't want photos because we aren't happy with how we look in that moment be it no make up, not at your "goal weight", not dressed up or whatever. I've been guilty of this too but I guarantee you, we will never say we wish we didn't take the photo! .
Even progress photos for your coach πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰and especially photos with our babies. πŸ’“πŸ‘ΆπŸ»

There are things in my life that seemed so simple before becoming a new mom (and dog nurse 🐢😳). One of those things is getting the right nutrients into me when I need them. You know like actually eating when you get hungry. Not just macronutrients though, micronutrients too. Things like omega3, magnesium and fibre are really important. It sounds crazy but sometimes it's almost impossible to eat (not to mention buy it and prepare it) when a little one is needing you. I have to work much harder to eat enough in a day let alone get all the fresh fruit and veggies into me that I know help me feel my best. On top of that I know Evangeline depends on me to feed her with my body too so it's all that much more important for me to eat well. Quick, quality, nutrient dense meals (which are the opposite of volume eating btw) and a little meal prep of a few basics, especially focusing on protein sources is really what works at this point. (Along with no guilt when that doesn't happen πŸ˜‰) We all have struggles, we all have obstacles and we also all have priorities. Looking after yourself (especially so you can look after others) includes eating well. Nothing is perfect and some days are better than others but that's the point! Consistency is a big picture thing ❀
Priorities for me right now are getting enough protein at each meal, gut health and increasing my intake of veggies back to where I like it! πŸ₯’πŸŒ±πŸ‘πŸΌ#selfcare #postpartum #momlife

First pump! πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ(or side lateral raise? πŸ’ͺ🏼). Whatevs, this 3 month old sweet babe just got the green light to reduce her physio therapy sessions. πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌ A Graduation of sorts! Evvie has been going to physio 2x a week since about 4 weeks old. We are now looking at more like every 2 or three weeks just to check on progress as she continue to improve with exercises at home. We've been able to correct her rotation and greatly improve her flexion caused by congenital torticolis from being breech. Our physio therapist, Liane, is amazing and I'm so glad we found her. πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌβ€ While I'm there I always see so many strong moms helping their babes improve on all sorts of things from issues crawling or walking to speech and behavioural. It's really amazing what moms do for their kids and it's also amazing how many wonderful support people out there care for kids with these struggles. I've met so many just with Evvie's issues. Thank you for all of you! 😍
