This is the Sackler family, the people responsible for Purdue Pharma, the privately held company that created and aggressively marketed OxyContin, claiming it to be a safe, non-addictive pain medication even when the evidence quickly proved otherwise. They are now worth over 13 billion, while more than 200,000 Americans have died, including my mother. Today, it is estimated that 146 Americans die everyday from an opioid overdose. With new US regulations, they are moving their marketing push to the Middle East and Asia, again claiming OxyContin is safe. Pictures of the Sacklers are rare; I figured it might be nice if we at least knew what these monsters look like.
