You can be *fit* without obsessing over your body fat percentage, musculature or physique. (I call it being *healthy.*) #gentlereminder 💓
The longer I'm on social media the more I realize the huge difference between the two. I hesitate to speak on fitness at times because I see how damaging the online fitness movement has been as applied to mental health. (And I don't want to offend anyone which is never, ever the goal.) A topic actually discussed in my last Diagnosis class - the relationship between fitness, feeding disorders, fitness obsession and mental health & dysfunction (specifically anxiety, depression & body dysmorphia). I plan to talk more about this in the future.
When I adopted a healthy lifestyle about 4 years ago, I did so in a holistic fashion, meaning mental, spiritual and emotional wellbeing are considered in tandem with physical wellness. I only ever speak on pursuing physical fitness ✨within this context.✨ Over the years, eating healthily and intuitively, practicing yoga and exercising transformed my body. I didn't have to do anything restrictive, painful or that took up all of my free time in order to reap the benefits. The change has been & continues to be gentle and consistent. I'm grateful for this sustainability because I plan to always live this healthy lifestyle.🐢 It can be like that for you, too❤️Care for yourself & body out of love, not as punishment or out of desire to change who you are. Do NOT be hard on yourself. 😘 Just remember, adopting a *healthy* lifestyle is a holistic effort.💓
