On a hot Sydney summer's day, journalist and author @carlhonore sits down to lunch in the cool of @rockpoolbarandgrill to talk about getting old. Honore is known as the 'godfather of the slow movement' and now has ageing in his sights with his new book 'Bolder: Making the Most of our Longer Lives'. It's a rallying call to stop whingeing about getting older and start wringing out every drop from the time we have left. "The body might age but the heart beats the same until the end," is how one woman put it in the book. For more insight, see the full story in the link in our bio. 📰: Jill Margo 📷: @peter_braig

A great book, read well, is perhaps the most time-effective way to learn new mental models. ⠀

In the same way that doing an MBA equips you with new models to understand business theories and practices (such as Porter’s five forces, or SWOT analysis), a great book can shape you in a way that an article or tweet cannot. ⠀

The aim isn't to add facts, it's to increase your capacity for understanding more broadly.⠀

Scroll through our gallery for three tips on how to read more from @thoughtleadershippartners MD Steve Pell who set out to try and read 100 books in a year. ⠀

For a private person, Kerryn Phelps leads a very public life.

Since pulling off the political upset of 2018 by snatching the bluest of blue ribbon seats from the Liberal Party at the Wentworth byelection, Phelps is in a position to get stuff done. The big question, of course, is how long that will last.
Phelps sits down to Lunch with the AFR to talk about the latest chapter in a career marked by leadership. Read the whole story in the link in our bio. 📰: Emma Connors
