FINALLY 😭🌈🎉 Congratulations to the community, to those who have been waiting and waiting for this.
I remember landing in USA when it was announced that same sex marriage was legalised. This eve I finished a 2hr walk along the Sydney coast, charged my phone to see the news pop up, and now I am so emotional all over again.
I give no thanks or credit to the Australian government from either major party.
I give credit and thanks to those that campaigned, fought and stood in solidarity to make this happen. These are people in the lgbtqi community and those that supported and understood that this was a fight for basic human rights.
Perhaps today we feel lucky, but this is something that has been fought for for a long long time. We must not stop here or leave our community behind. We must fight for all those still suffering without basic human rights in this country. Indigenous deaths in custody and the ongoing violence and racism perpetrated on a structural and personal level daily, trans suicide rates/trans health care, decriminalizing sex work, stopping the torture of refugee’s that the govt commits.... continued in last image —> swipe 💓💓💓💓💓💓 some words altered by me but mostly from Matthew Anthony Tibbins.
