“Cross the Line” is a tradition that @messiahwvb team does each time they play. Once they get inside the gym, before they do anything else, they “cross their line”. They each close their eyes as they put all distractions behind and get into a game-like mindset as the cross the line onto the court.
.
@amanda_dahlman uses this as a time to connect with God on the court. “First, I use this time to soak in the moment and thank God for giving me the opportunity to play volleyball alongside my best friends. I tell God that I not only want to play FOR Him, but WITH Him too. I ask God to help me be aware of His presence which gives me peace that passes understanding in the midst of whatever the game brings. Lastly, I thank the Lord because my worth is not found in my performance, it’s found in being a daughter of the King, and this allows me to play with freedom and unconditional joy” - Amanda
.
This is a practice we could ALL do tomorrow as we step out onto our courts/fields. Find a line right by the entrance, and try this! Share with your teammates and maybe even try it as a team.
.
Does your team do anything similar to this? If you do, let us know in the comments below!
.
Do you want to try this tomorrow? Then give us a thumbs up 👍🏼 below!

Messiah College volleyball player @amanda_dahlman is learning that God wants to be invited into every aspect of her life!
.
God has been showing Amanda how she can experience His presence whether she is literally on the volleyball court playing, or living her day to day life.
.
Today on the blog, Amanda shares PRACTICAL ways that she is doing this! She shares practical ways to cultivate an intimate and growing relationship with God, both on and off the court. Read in the link in bio!

We often focus on the things that God can do for us, rather than God himself. Things like: help us get recruited, playing well, providing the finances for college, getting a good job, etc. These things are all GOOD things!! It is not bad to ask God for these things. In fact, God wants us to ask!
.
But it becomes a problem when we worship those gifts rather than the giver of the gifts! It is a GIFT to play your sport. When was the last time you have thanked God for your sport and for your health to play? Have you worshipped God for providing you a team and athletic abilities?
.
James 1:17 says: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
.
So if scripture is clear that God is the giver of good gifts, let us worship our Heavenly Father!
.
Tonight, let us thank God and worship him for the gifts He constantly showers on us. Let us shift our eyes from the individual gifts, and instead look straight at our amazing God!
.
Thank you @malindaallen22 for sharing your story with us about when you learned this truth playing soccer abroad. Check out this archived article on our blog from the link in our bio!

3 STEPS - God speaks to us through His word ALWAYS. A few years ago I made a commitment that I NEVER want to miss hearing his voice! So i began to read the Bible daily. There are three things I always do when I read... and I think these three steps could be helpful for you too!
.
1.READ. Ummmm obviously. But ya know, that’s the first step! You gotta just read it! Sometimes I read the whole thing fast at first then I go back. Sometimes I read slowly. Sometimes I’ll read a whole book or chapter to get context even if I only want to focus on a few verses.
.
2.Receive. As I read it, I copy stuff down CONSTANTLY. Every verse I like. I even write notes of connections I’m making. I may right down a word and say it over and over. Sometimes i go back a few times to re-read things in order to not miss anything. I let it sink in!
.
3.Respond. I journal. I write. I write about the things that I just learned. I write about the things that it brought up about God and I often talk to God about it. .
That’s it!! Simple maybe. But honestly, so many of us are not in the Bible... !And maybe the more we simply talk about it, it will feel less overwhelming and more exciting 😀🙌🏼 Give it a try today! And then let me know if this helps AT ALL. We want to hear from you! Love you FAM!! - @nat_lawrencee

So... what’s the Bible all about?
.
On today’s podcast episode you’ll join in on the conversation of two best friends talking about what they love: the Bible!
.
@michelleeastman has been working with YWAM overseas for the last 3 years, studying and teaching the Bible. She’s passionate, wise, and hilarious! Today you’ll hear her story of how she got to college (against all odds), how she grew to love God’s word post graduation (after growing up as a pastors kid), and how you’re seriously missing out if you’re not reading the Old Testament.
.
Ep. 22 - So What’s The Bible All About? - with Michelle Eastman - LINK IN BIO!
.
Question for you. What is something that helps you get in the word? What helps you make time and read? For me... it’s a bible reading plan. Every day I know where to start and where to go. What is it for you?? Share below! 👇🏼👇🏼

@gettin_dani_crafty has something to say to us ladies when it comes to BOYS and DATING!
.
But first, here are a few questions for you... How do YOU view guys? Are they something that you use when you feel insecure, lonely, or bored? Are you honoring them and building them up as brothers in Christ? Or are they just a toy that you use to feel better?
.
One day, Dani woke up to the fact that she was not honoring her brothers in Christ. We often blame our guys for the issues of our dating culture... And we’re quick to point the finger about how selfish guys might be. But what if us girls are the problem too?
.
God showed Dani this truth: “If you don’t learn how to honor and love the guys in your life as brothers in Christ now, you’ll never know how to honor and love a husband.” Read Dani’s whole story in the link in bio 👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼

Chest bumps for #friendshipfriday!
.
Chest bumps for girls almost never work out as perfect as this... usually we misjudge how high to jump, or one of us is a chicken and sorta backs down at the last minute 😂 Have you had this experience?? Tag your chest bump teammate!

Perhaps this prayer of David can be your prayer to God today! David was a man in the Old Testament who was considered “a man after God’s own heart”. He was an anointed leader by God, and yet he was still just a man.
.
Pro soccer player @malindaallen22 shared this psalm earlier this week in her article as an encouragement to be honest and vulnerable with God. Even though David was a Godly leader and king, his prayers still sounded like the one above! He was crying out to God for help!
.
When you feel weak, tired, insecure, unsafe, or whatever it might be, don’t keep it in! Don’t try to fix it yourself. Cry out to God the way David did! And the way the @malindaallen22 did when she found herself alone and struggling in an unknown place and situation.
.
God is your rock of refuge. God is a strong fortress. He can handle ALL the you are. You just need to show up to him just as you are!

What do YOU desire most?
.
@malindaallen22 asks this question on the blog today. She recently started her professional soccer career in Dublin, Ireland. And if you were to ask her this question a few months ago she probably would’ve answered: “To get my visa cleared!!”
(Anyone else try to work/play internationally that can relate?)
.
But as she has processed and spent time with the Lord, her deepest desires are shifting towards Jesus. She is beginning to find true peace and fulfillment! Read her whole story - link in bio!

UNC Greensboro soccer player, Kayla Perry, received her final concussion of her career at the beginning of her first collegiate season. It was so bad that it ended her career.
.
Does this story sound familiar? It SUCKS but it has become a more common narrative within the female soccer community. Today on the podcast we talk about it!
.
Ep. 21 - “Too Many Concussions and How I Found Jesus - with Kayla Perry”
.
What is it like to receive the news that you will have to stop playing the game you love? What is it like to sit in God’s strong arms when you can’t do anything as you try to recover from a brain injury? What is it like to move forward?
.
Check out the link in bio to hear Kayla’s story... and how it ultimately led her to Christ

There are a lot of moments in our sport where rejoicing in God is the LAST thing you feel like doing. When there are injuries, team drama, fitness 😅, etc. But what if we ACTUALLY rejoiced no matter what?
.
What if you have the worst losing season you’ve had. Is it still possible to rejoice? @aubreybledsoe says it’s possible:
.
“Rejoicing seemed somewhat delusional in the midst of an incredibly disappointing season. What could I possibly rejoice about? I was wildly unsuccessful according to the world's standards, but not to God. He doesn't care about my losses – He cares about my soul. What does this look like practically? It meant going to every training with my head held high, loving my teammates well, and living life to a different tune. If you can rejoice when the world tells you not to, that's when you know you're starting to look like Jesus and be a part of his counter-cultural Kingdom. This isn't easy and oftentimes defies logic, which means we need God's help.” - @aubreybledsoe.
.
Do you think even TODAY, you can rejoice? With God’s help, it is possible. No matter what your circumstances are... will you rejoice? At the FAM, we want to rejoice! Raise you’re hand if you are with us 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

How should we respond to the disappointment of a really bad season?
.
Professional soccer player @aubreybledsoe just finished the worst season of her career. After winning only 2 games, Aubrey was obviously feeling discouraged, frustrated, and even angry. Wouldn’t you?
.
But God had a plan for her and she is coming out of this experience with encouragement and insight. Read Aubrey’s story by clicking the link in the bio!!
