FUNCTIONS OF THE LYMPH NODES
Lymph nodes are rounded masses of lymphatic tissue encapsulated in a connective tissue. They play important functions in helping your immune system defend your body against diseases. Lymph nodes filter lymphatic fluid, and produce and store white blood cells. A tender, swollen lymph node is usually a sign of infection. It also means that the lymph nodes are working harder to produce more white cells to defend against the infection.
The purpose of lymph drainage massage is to move fluid out of your tissues into lymph nodes where bacteria, viruses and other harmful microorganisms are destroyed. It reduces swelling and pain and stimulates your immune system, increasing the circulation of white blood cells. There are many lymph nodes in your face and neck, and they protect you against pathogens that can enter your body through your eyes, nose and mouth.
I used a jade roller in this video but I usually perform it with my fingers. I got my experience from doing it to face lift patients. It’s an amazing post op procedure.
