Take time for yourself, even little moments, like a lunch break walk, or a massage, gym time, treating yourself to a little gift you always wanted. And honestly, I’m saying this to remind MYSELF because it’s always easier said than done. While my to-do list is growing, and 2019 is looming I’m trying to be present.

When I’m busy AF, making a pretty meal isn’t a priority, and sometimes I forget to eat until noon {hello unplanned #intermittentfasting 👋🏼}. I don’t forget to find ways to “eat my veggies” or balance my carb days with greens & fruits ... my point being, I’m not perfect, and I don’t have time to make pretty plates of food every day, but I keep it simple & real when I can and it becomes an easy lifestyle.

I decided to cook my own cactus 🌵 #nopales the other night and instead of tacos it ended up being a 🌵bowl.

Cactus tastes similar to okra and green beans. And it’s full of vitamin C & fiber so you’re ready for another round the next day😉😉

Yesterday my dream came true. I’ve lived down the street from @sqirlla for almost 4 years and have yet to go. I’ve never understood why the line is always so long, until yesterday!

This bowl was out of this world 🌎 Sorrel Pesto, Kokuho Rose Brown Rice, Preserved Meyer Lemon, Watermelon Radish, French Sheep Feta, Poached Egg & a tangy green tomatillo-ish salsa 💯
Of course the ricotta & jam brioche was life changing and we ate that for the rest of the day because wayyyy too much food!

If you still haven’t been, go early and don’t worry it’s like standing in line for a delicious rollercoaster ride of flavors! Totally worth it.

Not even sure if these will turn out 😜but I had fun experimenting! Try something new, and don’t be afraid of it.
I figure if the crust tasted yum & the filling tastes yum then if they fall apart I’ll just eat it with a spoon 🤷‍♀️and call it a “crumble”

I looked at about 6 different blogs and recipes for one that included everything I wanted to use...
“no bake” “real cream cheese” (aka: not vegan / no cashew subs) “no eggs” “yes pumpkin!” etc etc and nothing was exactly what I wanted so I loosely followed @minimalistbaker Vegan No Bake but didn’t measure anything and used cream cheese & hazelnut meal ... basically very different - but my POINT being use #recipes as a guide until you get comfortable in the kitchen and then you fill in the rest with what you have! Mostly, just have fun!

It’s a perfect time to reflect on the year and finding a piece of joy, and little lesson out of all the good & bad, happy or sad. But for me... the couple of days in my kitchen is my #therapy
.
It doesn’t matter if I’m cooking for myself, or 20 others...the time to get creative on #traditional favorites makes me feel SO THANKFUL and warms my heart. No matter how you do it, FIND JOY in those crazy kitchen moments with family, friends, and mostly your internal self.
.
I’ll be with friends this holiday, sharing love and good vibes over some of my favorite dishes, because nothing is as great as coming together over food!

LAST YEAR: I made a #keto thanksgiving with these low carb, low sugar #Pumpkin Cheesecake Bites using @bobsredmill Hazelnut Meal & Coconut Butter Topping. I’ll be making another version of these this year because they were so good! {I also have no idea if I used a recipe for these🤷‍♀️I usually make things up because following directions isn’t a strength!}
