Oatmylawd never had #savoryoats so good! Kohlrabi & garlic in some creamy pesto sorta sauce. I’m in heaven. And besides feeling awkward AF sitting alone at the chefs table (aka: face to face with the chefs!) I LOVE eating solo and challenge every one to do it every so often.

I always like to see if the place has a bar inside so I’m not taking up an entire table, then I just sit, eat what I want, people watch and make up what I think could be their life story — it’s kinda fun!

TRAVEL TIP:
Melatonin is great for crossing time zones and helping maintain good sleep. Our bodies internal clocks get very out of whack & this helps our body start to produce what it does already, at a more consistent time when we start taking it before bed. I don’t take it regularly but it helped me so much after getting back from Hawaii, that was a struggle to adjust. Also, ear plugs!!! 😜

Macadamia Crusted Mahi on a bed of greens & bean sprouts, coconut volcano rice and COCONUT CREAM DREAMZZZ sauce!

(I would write this entire post in all caps because I’m so excited to remember this meal, but I don’t want you to think I’m yelling!) IT WAS SOOO GOOD!🤪

I’m so picky with seafood, legit a weirdo - you’d probably think I was a 5 year old. But this meal kept my inner food weirdo child at bay. 🐟
.
I’m about to travel for what feels like a month, but since 17 days of the travel is work related I’m not allowing myself to get that “vacation” mindset around food. Otherwise I’d end up having no energy and feeling like a blimp. I’m already packing my snack bag for my hotels & making sure I keep some supplements in my routine. But when I get to #europe - all bets off baby, show me the 🥐bakery (and another meal like this!).

✨New obsessions✨
1) Figs on pizza (done this in the past but it’s been too long!)
2) @mikeys paleo pizza crust

Loaded this crust with mozzarella + simmered onion, red peppers, mushroom & Figs in balsamic vinegar before topping the ‘za

Topped with fresh basil 🌿
And a side of sautéed greens!
Also stayed classy and ate this on parchment paper on a pizza rack because I already donated all my plates! 🙈🤣

I’m not always perfect when it comes to my “lifestyle”. I’ve loosened up a TON in 2018 and a lot is because of my daily influence of cookies and baked goods in the office.😜
I stopped beating myself up over it and it made me mentally feel SO much better! And it’s not like I gained tons of weight from a seldom muffin or bite here and there. .
Sometimes your friend orders a salad 🥗 and you decide you really want to try the vegan Cornmeal Blueberry Muffin. 💯 it was a dream I need to recreate ASAP!

I could’ve made a healthier choice, yes. But I like to live a little on that 80/20 edge🤪

Fermentation, in yogurt or beer or vegetables, bacteria or yeast feed on the natural sugars in foods. This produces friendly bacteria.
The bacteria "predigest" certain food components, which makes them easier for your gut to handle and nutrients to be absorbed when eaten.

BENEFITS: sauerkraut or kimchi increase glucosinolate compounds, believed to fight cancer!! The gut is a main part of your immune system. Having good gut health could affect your immunity, inflammation, allergies and autoimmune disorders in the body as a whole. Keep it in check✅

Now that’s just amazing, why not add some to your routine? Each brand tastes different, some are more mild than others. But it’s worth trying it out, not over doing it at first but adding kraut or kimchi to sandwiches, eat it with meat (ever noticed how Asian cultures use pickled ginger with sushi, or kimchi with Korean bbq? Because they’re genius and know it helps them digest their food better!!)🤯

Nacho Chicken Kohlrabi Linguine🍝
I’ve never made kohlrabi and just in case you haven’t either...
#KOHLRABI by definition : same species as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, collard greens, savoy, and gai lan.

I found a bag of kohlrabi veggie noodles @wholefoods & decided to give them a try. The perfect way to a quick dinner!

Sautéed kohlrabi with leeks, some rotisserie chicken, greens & tomato. The best part was drenching it in nacho cashew cheese @sietefoods 💯

I may not be the biggest #sushi 🍣 fan but I can down the ginger like a champ!

I loved this spot in #NorthShore Oahu Banzai Sushi — everything was so fresh they were out of half their menu. Which was ok by me because I totally ordered the Fish N Chips 😂but it was fancy AF & tasted just like chicken.(Yes...I’m a 2 yr old!)
.
I ate one piece of whatever roll was in this photo & it was good, but besides the weird texture of some seafood and RAW slimy fish creatures floating in my mouth - sushi bloats me like crazy! I’d rather stick to my cooked or fried fish and feel less dignified and also less bloated 😜

Are you a sushi fan?! Also - visit #banzaisushihawaii if ever in north shore Oahu - the traditional seating, drinks, and everything I tried was delicious 🤤

This chili & photo is all @seanvanvleet ~ I just get to share it! I asked for his recipe and this is what I got....
Organic Ground beef, white beans, tomato sauce, mango, black berry, @brothersproducts pita chip “croutons”, secret seasonings😆, carrots, broccoli 🥦

He gets really creative (secret seasonings!!!) in the kitchen when he sets his mind to it, so I challenge each of you to throw some mango & berries into your chili!

Still on island time, I didn’t fall asleep until 1am (my usual bed time is 9-10pm) and couldn’t wake up at 8am with my alarm, turned it off and didn’t wake up again until 12:30pm!!! WHOA!🙈
My body is all out of whack but I needed the sleep, and I’m not letting myself be upset I missed an entire weekend morning, because listening to my body, so I don’t get run down is super important. .

Now I’m spending the couple weekends I have left in #Utah between tons of travel, to organize and pack/purge a bunch of STUFF! It feels so so good. Deciding on getting rid of items can be tough, but I have to ask myself....”how often did I use/wear this in the last year?” If the answer is 0-2 times — you’re outta here! Anyone want to come over and shop my apartment?! 😜
