We have been checking out some of the restaurants in Kiev cooking up new Ukrainian cuisine. This dish was nettle bread with local herb butter and pike caviar from the Black Sea. Just out of view vodka and nettle beer.
@j.ritchie thanks for letting me tag along with the @vomboden tour for a great visit with @stefan_vetter_wein yesterday! With just under 8 acres of vines on steep terraces overlooking the Main, Stefan has to be producing some of the most focused and balanced unfiltered dry whites I have tried from Germany- most clocked in at 10.5-11% alc with full malolactic and 2 years in 500l casks and total so2 additions under 25ppm Stefan is a true master of this unique terroir. The 16 Schale, Steil & Stingle bottling in particular stood out - 18 month skin macerated Sylvaner that was unlike any other skin contact white I have tried. Also a sighting of @puligny_brauntrachet In his natural habitat! #v2018
