Length:?? (Part 9)
"And so, for her beloved prince's happiness, the little mermaid had silently swam back to the depths of the ocean, where she had never got another chance to see him again. The end." Taehyung concludedly snapped the thin storybook closed with a resounding clap, and tried not to break a smirk at the two girls currently pouting and sniffling at him.
He kissed both of their forheads goodnight, and wheeled towards the door when they had fallen asleep shortly after, where he had found a lip-biting Hoseok, seemingly anxious at the sight of him. He hummed as he heard his name called timidly, following the equally timid figure into the kitchen. "Thank you," he heard from Hoseok, and his heart gave a small flutter, his sincerest smile forming on his weak lips. He tried his best to wheel towards the young boy, stretching his hand out to grab his small hand and using the other to ruffle his hair. "There's nothing to thank me for. If anything, it's me who should thank you instead for bringing me so much more happiness," was what Taehyung had in reply, and Hoseok stood stunned, seemingly rooted the ground. His spell broke as he took a step forward, and he wrapped his arms around the weak cancer patient, tears starting to soak into Taehyung's shirt as he in turn embraced him in a bone-crushing hug.
Hoseok could not thank Tahyung enough. He simply couldn't. Taehyung had helped him when he was at his lowest, saving him and his younger sister from starving on the streets and putting up with his rudest behaviour when they had first arrived at the house. He tugged himself further into the comforting chest, trembling with the droplets that flowed from his eyes.
Not to his knowledge, a pair of photographer's eyes and lens had captured the scene from the kitchen doorway.
