Miles away from the nearest city, this village, like many others, floats on the canals that surround the mighty Tonle Sap lake. Each house is built on a foundation of barrels and bamboo, keeping it afloat in the water. During the rainy season the waters rise, making the lake 6 times bigger than its usual size. The houses just float with the lake as the ground becomes covered with water and only the tops of the trees are visible. The people are mainly fisherman, who use boats like we use cars, and catch fish to survive. It's an incredible way of life that I was able to witness this past week.
