Here's a little bit of a Sugar update for anyone that may be wondering:
She saw the vet last week and he was very happy with how sound she is and expects her to make a great recovery! Sugar will be having some down time after the amazing show season she gave me to chill out and recover. Once back into things, she will just cruise around some lower level events and teach someone else the ropes of eventing. Even if we hadn't had a fall at CVHT, this was always in the plan for her after this season. She will be turning 17 in April so is getting up there in age, and I want to start focusing on Moo a lot more.
Even if I didn't get to complete a Prelim event on Sugar, I'm still thrilled with how everything went before the fall. We had an amazing dressage test, and she felt the best she ever has cross country. So bold to everything while still extremely responsive to my aids. And I'm sure we would have cruised around the rest of the event on the same pace 😉
Both of our injuries could have been MUCH worse. Thankfully, they weren't. Time has been taken to make sure Sugar has the best care she needs, and it really seems to be showing!
Thank you so much to everyone who has been there for Sugar and I 💜
