Eujin Byun  Hi, I'm Eujin, currently living in South Sudan, working for UNHCR. This is the life of refugee children, families... Twitter: @eujin2

A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path. Did you tell your mother that how much you love her today? #mother #love #southsudan #displaced #refugees #baby #children #child #hope #dream #family #smile #beautiful #africa

Did you bring a smile to someone's face? Did you say words of healing? Did you forgive? Did you love? We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do. Here's the smile of the day; lovely South Sudanese boys while playing outside.

"UNHCR will stand with you until peace comes to South Sudan." - UNHCR Deputy High Commissioner Kelly Clements on the fist day of her week long visit to South Sudan, she met displaced South Sudanese in Juba.
Since the conflict erupted in 2013, almost 4.5 million South Sudanese were displaced inside and outside of South Sudan. Don't close your eyes, it will only get worse when you open your eyes. Please don't forget them and stand with us.

Mama Hawa showed me how to look awesome at 70! "Eujin, you need to wear some jewelry!" "Mama Hawa, I'm working." "I'm displaced, so what!" Mama Hawa has been displaced four times in her life. "Child, that doesn't mean your life stops there, you just move on, try to do whatever makes you happier. Me? I wear sunglasses!" #displaced #refugee #refugees #southsudan #unhcr #granny #beautiful #fashion #love #life #awesome #sun #beauty #chic

The journey of Sudanese refugee mother "I was pregnant when I left my home in Sudan. I was so scared of losing my baby on the way. When we arrived in South Sudan, I put my hands on my stomach and whispered; we are safe now." #refugees #mother #baby #southsudan #africa #sudan #family #love #girl #beautiful #photooftheday #camp #protect #journey #unhcr

Joyce (far left), 14 years old Sudanese refugee, together with her five siblings and her mother crossed the border almost 3 years ago. She lost her father during heavy clashes in her town. "Our house burned down, we couldn't do anything apart from waiting to get killed...when I heard that my husband got killed, I had to decide, it was hard to leave but I wanted to my children to live." Joyce's mother said. "My mother is strong, she's the only reason we could all smile again. She encourages us to have a dream. I and my two sisters want to open a restaurant when we grow up." Joyce said.

Refugee women and girls never stop inspiring me. For me, working in South Sudan, every day is Women's day. #IWD2018 #Internationalwomensday #women #girls #southsudan #sudan #refugees #africa #smile #hope #resilience #courage #beautiful #dream #unhcr #camp #nofilter #photooftheday

Saira is 16 years old and her family are refugees in South Sudan’s Doro camp. She fled the conflict in Blue Nile, Sudan, in 2011 along with her family. “I still remember the day we left our town. It was the 6th of September around four in the afternoon. The bombs fell into our town and burned everything around. We had to run all of a sudden. I grabbed my younger sister, Dinana, who was then two years old and ran as fast as I could. I left behind my school certificates and books. I couldn’t carry anything but my little sister. We walked in the bush for five days in the bush. We had nothing to eat or drink. It was a tough situation to bear for an 11-year-old kid like me…” Saira and her family started a new life in Doro. She was able to resume her studies when UNHCR and its partners opened the first of 23 schools in Maban camps. “I finished primary education here in the camp and I am still going to school. My parents are my best supporters. Many of my friends are already married and we are just teenagers...My father always encourages me to finish my studies and learn as much as I wish. He wants me to be a teacher who can inspire other refugee children and be a role model for them. But I want to become a pilot so I can travel all over the world. I’ve learned that there are so many countries outside of Sudan and South Sudan. I want to visit them all. I think being a pilot is the best way to realize my dream –seeing the world beyond a refugee camp.” #unhcr #refugee #refugees #family #love #hope #dream #camp #girl #education #mother #father #southsudan #sudan #photooftheday #africa #happy #smile #amazing #instalike #bestoftheday #colorful #fun #baby #pretty #cute #beautiful #life #instagood #instalove

Marcos is 26 years old and has been twice a refugee. He was only two years old when his parents were forced to flee Sudan and seek asylum in Ethiopia. They lived in Bonga refugee camp for 14 years. When the Government of Sudan and Sudan’s People Liberation Movement signed the comprehensive peace agreement in 2005, Marcos and his family went back home. “I was so happy when I put my feet back on my home country. I got married to my wife Marta and I became a popular musician in my village. People would ask me to play at their weddings and parties. We were happy and we believed that peace has finally come to Sudan.” But another conflict broke out in Sudan in 2011, forcing Marcos and his family to move again in search of safety. This time they found refuge in Doro camp, South Sudan. Marcos is now a father of four. “Three of them were born here as refugees. I wish we can go back home one day. I want my children to leave in a peaceful country. They deserve it.” Meanwhile, Marcos keeps playing to heal both the soul of his fellow refugees and his own. #refugees #unhcr #family #love #photooftheday #africa #everydayinafrica #smile #beautiful #children #child #baby #cute #nofilter #southsudan #sudan #home #house #camp #withrefugees #together #hope #resilience #dream #song #singer #music #protection

The most precious thing I have learned from refugees is that they find joy in the simple things.

When I talk with Sudanese refugees in South Sudan, I realized that most of them either never had a family photo or left one behind (or lost) and many refugee children never saw their own reflection since they were born (simply because they don't own a mirror). That's why I decided to take their family photo and also capture their reaction when they saw it. Witnessing their reaction is the best part of my job. I would like to share that joy with you :) #family #photo #beautiful #baby #child #children #refugees #africa #sudan #southsudan #instagram #photoofday #love #pretty #protection #shelter #instagood #joy #picoftheday #nofilter #instalove #unhcr

Lizbeth and John with their five children - Salima, Rubenson, Oliver, Rosa, and Joseph in Doro refugee camp, South Sudan. Lizbeth and her husband John went to school together in Sudan’s Blue Nile. “I have known him since I was 7. I can say he is the love of my life. I still remember the day when we first met in school, I couldn’t sleep that night just thinking of him.” Lizbeth and John got married after finishing secondary school. “We knew we are meant to be together. We have never been apart. We have always shared the pain and the sadness that the conflict brought into our lives.” In September 2011, the young couple decided to flee to South Sudan after heavy clashes and bombardment in Blue Nile. “We did it for our children. We didn’t want them to witness the same violence as we did.” #unhcr #refugees #camp #southsudan #sudan #family #children #hope #love #everydayinafrica #africa #mother #father #child #baby #home #beautiful
