I ordered a Strawberry Shortcake from @burr0w for Valentine's Day. There was crazy traffic, and I made it to the store 15 minutes before close. When I arrived, I found out I made a mistake and ordered the cake for pickup on another day. I asked the manager if they had any other cakes I could buy, and was told that not only were they sold out, all of their cakes are made to order. They were closing so there was no time to make another cake. 🍓
I was frustrated. Not with Burrow, as I completely understand their policy, but with myself as it feels like 2017 has been a huge struggle as of late. 🍓
I went outside and took a few deep breaths while I looked at my phone for nearby bakeries. That's when Ayako Kurokawa herself came running out of the building in 37 degree weather with just a tshirt and apron, and asked me if I was the one that needed a strawberry shortcake. She stressed to me that this is not usual policy but if I could wait around for 30 minutes, she would make a cake just for me. She said, "you just looked so sad". 🍓
It's a long story to get to this point, but I just want people to know that one small kind gesture can really change a person's day, week, month, year. 🍓
Thank you Kurokawa-san. I hope to pay forward your kindness.
