Erin Ward  You’re incredible.

This is my face right now. Steeping in all the gratitude for my lady @yoga_by_rony, the embodiment of loving kindness, and everyone who joined us for the Elements Retreat this past weekend. WHOA. We can’t wait for the next experience together (hint November weekend in LA with @casey_corn :))
.
This is also my face because I am looking at the calendar and though summer is almost over, there are big things coming up that have me doing a happy dance:
.
September 11-16th: I’m honored to partner with @thejamaicainn for a week long yoga + meditation re-set. We’ve been working on creating a dynamic programming schedule of all things rejuvenation. PM for more info! Would LOVE to have some family with me down there.
.
October 13th: SANCTUARY — a one day retreat with @mindfulnessmatters in Venice, CA. In the works, more info coming soon.
.
October 18-22nd: Join me for an adventure in Rincon, Puerto Rico with @theweekendsabbatical. I’ll be guiding the internal exploration as well as keeping your body feeling open and strong as you work with a coach on a personal development blueprint to take home with you. We’ll be working with a local non-profit dedicated to re-building the infrastructure of Rincon. Get your hands dirty as we open our hearts.
.
And you know what? Let me just say one more thing: I am truly honored to keep adventuring, moving, breathing, loving, feeling, opening, and seeking with you. I want to create, as much as I possibly can, the space for you to connect to joy.

It’s hard not to dance when you realize there are only a few more sleeps until @yoga_by_rony and I open up the space at @silentgfarms for a full on Thurs-Sun of rejuvenation and revitalization aided by yoga, breathwork, meditation, art, nature, Chef @casey_corn, random surprises and a whole lot of love.
.
For my last minute friends, our rooms are sold out but we’ve added a super affordable air mattress option for those who want to join us. Spontaneous gift to you from you perhaps? We’ll be waiting with open arms and a mug of something delicious.

Teaching is the Benjamin Button of studentship. You begin doing it, and a unique mix of excitement, self-consciousness and antsy-ness to get going grants you an armor of thinking, or at least considering the possibility, that you know everything. You’ve been a student and now you’ve graduated. But then as you go on, you keep realizing you know less and less until you become the epitome of a wise spiritual teacher: a very happy baby (intended), completely content with the not knowing.
.
Maybe that perspective is supportive to a higher quality of life experience. I find I quite like that thought.
.
I’ve been doing this almost 6 years now, the teaching thing, and I’d say I’m more of a student now then when I started.
.
Thank you to the students/teachers at @theassemblysf for welcoming me as representative of the @theclassbytt team. If you’re in SF @theassemblysf is a powerful place and a fertile ground for creative and impactful seeds. Gratitude glitter bomb to @navitasorganics for making this + nourishment possible. And thank you to @_courtneycrowley_ for making it such a joyful and easy ride.
.
P.S. On this trip I learned to tie my shoes the “right way.”
.
P.P.S. SF, I love you and I’ll see you soon.
.
P.P.P.S. LA, 9am tomorrow @wanderlusthlwd wanderlusthlwd for @theclassbytt .

"But what if you, being a swan, had to pretend you were a mouse? What if you had to pretend to be gray and furry and tiny? What if wherever you went you tried to walk like a mouse, but you waddled instead? What if you tried to talk like a mouse, but instead out came a honk every time? Wouldn't you be the most miserable creature in the world?
.
The answer is an unequivocal yes. So why, if this is all so and too true, do women keep trying to bend and fold themselves into shapes that are not theirs?”
-Women Who Run With Wolves
.
Most recently, when I feel myself playing small, folding myself in, contorting into a perceived mold, I recall the archetype of the wolf, largely because I’m re-reading this book.
.
Ferocious, powerful, leader, unguarded, on the hunt, part of a pack. Not words I associated with for most of my life.
.
Learning how to mother myself, uphold truth through integrity of action and word, and move through the world with intentional love and unapologetically me. Not a mouse, or a swan, but celebrating this unique form.
.
It feels rather radical. Fiercely, howlingly radical.

I want to talk about the ways in which us humans have the capacity to save one another. Not in heroic, obvious acts, but in the subtle and spontaneous responses that lean into a connection.
.
Last year, maybe to the day, I experienced one of the hardest breaks of my heart thus far. Raw and wrought, I boarded a plane bound for The Retreatment by @theclassbytt.
.
I was in so much emotional pain that my body began to take it on. Everything hurt. I think I asked Google if anyone ever died from heartbreak. After one class with the maestro @taryntoomey, I couldn’t move. Everyone rolled up their mats and left. I laid on the floor in fetal position and cried. I didn’t have a choice.
.
I felt someone come next to me. Taryn sat with me in the dark. She put a bolster in between my legs and behind my back. She stroked my forehead and told me waves are meant to ride and to stay as long as I’d like. She told me that it would last until it was ready to go and I didn’t need to control it.
.
In retrospect that moment has magnified to be a profound example of compassion. We humans have the capacity to have a game-changing effect on each other.
.
Today, I found myself, surprisedly, in a thick tenderness once again, inarticulate emotive waves washing in around and over me. There they were, two members of my found family, my @theclassbytt sisters. One put their palm to my heart as I caved inward, and the other planted hands on my feet, steadying me as I let the feelings take me until they were ready to depart, remembering Taryn’s words one year ago.
.
You may not realize the profound effect you have on people, but make no mistake, even your smallest action or those few words that feel inspired in a moment of human connection may be the boat someone needs to ride on through.
.
I hope you’ll make it to @theclassbytt this week. NYC, LA, Vancouver: we’ve got you.
.
Oh and SF, see you August 2+3.

Coming back down from the high that was @wanderlustfest Squaw Valley. My first time teaching and attending. All I can say is WHOA.
.
It was my first time seeing my name in print next to the teachers I’ve practiced with in person and from afar. I didn’t bring cards, forgot to announce what’s coming up, didn’t do much to promote (I’m still learning these things 🤷🏻‍♀️) but I got so much from these few days and the beautiful humans that showed up to breathe, feel, and sit in stillness with me. What a gift it was to share space with these groups.
.
The teachers, the students, the Wanderlust staff, vendors, naked babies, rock star musicians, new friends, closer-now friends: I wish I could bottle it up and revisit it all the time.
.
The coolest part? That little reminder, a tap on the shoulder, a soft whisper in the ear from that wiser, higher me: “hey you, keep going.”
.
Thank you @wanderlustfest. And if you’re thinking of going to one. Pause. Click. Go.
.
PS I sang Kirtan next to @elenabrower and @shivarea108 and definitely peed my pants a little in excited awe.

Spirit, energy, vibes, gut feeling, inner knowing: we’ve got a lot of words for it, but how do we trust it?
.
I work with its expression and cultivation primarily through movement, and I’m learning to connect to my intuition in stillness as well as in the moment while moving through the world. To know what we need and then having the courage to respond accordingly — what a lifetime practice.
.
If intuition is at all intriguing to you you join me and my magical lady friend @karaerickson11 for an evening in Malibu with @thesurfridermalibu dedicated to the exploration of and connection to intuition.
.
We’ll move and breathe on the beach, then head to their rooftop for discussion over a sunset dinner, paired with healthy elixirs from @simplestonics and @livinglibations. We will all take home gifts from the lovely @energymuse.
.
Limited spots for dinner. Sign up through the link in @karaerickson11 bio.
.
Can’t wait to feel, connect, move, eat, breathe with you. And it’s on a Malibu rooftop, so there’s that.

This photo, to me, reflects exactly what we want you to feel on our Catskills Retreat: reclined into cozy love and saturated in joy.
.
@yoga_by_rony and I decided to work together to co-create experiences for people out of the realization that what we wanted to do with our time, careers, and energy was in alignment: We want to take people on journeys that will deepen their connection to themselves. We want to hold space for people to feel, be in their bodies, process, and pivot perspective. We want to be of service and add more love to the world through the practices we believe so strongly in.
.
We also want to move, laugh, breathe, sweat, unwind, restore, eat, dance, hold fire ceremonies, paint things, write about things and connect with dope people. Which is exactly what will happen in the Catskills. All of it and probably much more than we can plan for.
.
August 9th-12th.
.
Spots open.
Link in Bio.
Say yes and something will emerge, guaranteed.
.
PS if you want to go and $$ is the obstacle, let’s talk. 🤗

Dear Erin.......and every human.

#lookback #reflection #youredoingitright #youvecomesofar

I overslept today. I woke up very confused where I was and more so who I was. That scared part of me got angry: “I had big plans for this morning! My morning! was going to move, to meditate, journal, take advantage of wee hours! I have goals! I’ve failed me!”
.
This all happened in about 20 seconds of looking at the clock and searching for my glasses. Then, another little voice, almost a whisper, came through: “this is great, you needed this, and you need to see your reaction to it.” Opportunity to experience what binds me.
.
Chains look differently for all of us: what locks us to a feeling of safety and security. Even healthy, productive, self-empowering practices can become heavy expectations that we drag around and trip over if they take the place of our connection to ever-present self-worth.
.
So this 📷 is my approach to the weekend. Chain free, guilt free, and probably very uncomfortable at times. Maybe it’ll have pizza. Maybe mountains. Maybe dancing. Maybe sleeping. I might make the big plans, I might not. It’ll be interesting to see what gets triggered, and what, as Michael Singer calls the ego voice, “my roommate” has to say about it.
.
As my friend and teacher @sheri_delaney said to me today, “Go where you don’t normally go. There’s more information there.”
.
I hope you have the most beautiful, spontaneous, kind, you-are-enough weekend that you’ve had in a long time. And if it gets uncomfortable to be a little more free, than I think it means we’re doing it right.

Walking with a new friend today after @theclassbytt at @thespacesamo, she asked me how I got involved and how I came to teach it. I stumbled to respond because I had to reach back to what seems like a distant reality: when I was not a part of it. When I hadn’t met these people yet. When this community hadn’t yet swathed me in its profound and sweaty love.
.
Now, these humans are family, and what a cool remembrance to be stewing in today: we might be driving the car —living, moving, breathing — but something else is navigating. There is a conducting of circumstance happening, and as hard as we try it is not in our control.
.
SO HARD to remember for a control freak like me, but then I stumble upon a family portrait like this one, and it’s so clear.
.
Maybe we make the decision to show up and be kind, lean into the small steps of what feels right in the moment, and trust that the rest will be taken care of. And the right people will show up at the right time.
