I had a great time on an exploratory hike with the #Obsidians today. The original goal was to potentially summit Cone Peak, South Echo Mountain, Echo Mountain and North Echo Mountain. This turned out to be an overly optimistic itinerary since there was only a trail 75% of the way up Cone Peak and the rest of the hike was off trail until you returned to near Cone Peak.
All of us summited Cone Peak and four of us summited South Echo Mountain. We were treated to amazing amounts of #wildflowers although I was apparently too focused on the ๐Ÿ” #cascadesvolcanoes to take pictures of ๐ŸŒบ. @blondseraph again made some incredible #ricecrispytreats as summit treats but I again forgot to take any photos๐Ÿ˜ฐ. I now have a much better understanding of the area and will be back soon to tackle #echomountain, the 59th most prominent Peak in #oregon.

Time to say goodbye to my hotel key card collection. ๐Ÿ”‘The gem of the collection was a #CypressHotel minibar key. #kimptonhotels #ididntmeantotakeit

Today's #peakbagging destination was #BlueMountain. This 7,435 foot tall mountain features 2,075 feet of prominence, 67th most in Oregon. It is a white knuckled drive up a rough road. Blue Mountain sits off highway 95 about 15 miles of McDermitt, Nevada. #ORP2K #Oregon

Yesterday's #beakbagging objective was #BeatysButte. This 7,918 foot tall mountain has 2,055 feet of prominence, 70th most in Oregon. It only has 21.5 miles of topographic isolation but my be one of the most isolated places in Oregon. You drive about 50 east of Lakeview and then you drive north 30 miles on a gravel road. I was the first person to sign the summit register this year. #ORP2K #hiking

Our second objective yesterday was #JuniperMountain. This 6,679 foot tall mountain is the 26th most isolated peak in Oregon. This is supposed to be a drive up but we ran across a 'road closed' sign and a large dead Juniper tree blocking the road. This turned it into a 3.5 mile road hike. I soloed it since Lisa wasn't feeling well. The summit featured nice views of Lake Abert and Hart Mountain. #peakbagging #oregon

Yesterday was a full day of #peakbagging. Our first objective was #WagontireMountain. This 6,513 mountain is the 21st most isolated peak in Oregon. It features a nice ๐Ÿ”ฅ lookout. This was a 6 mile road hike. We had incredible 360 view that my camera didn't do justice. In the west we could see the Cascades from Mt Mclaughlin all the way north to Mt Jefferson. Strawberry Mountain was clearly visible in the east. It was a nice six road hike after a long drive from Eugene.

โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒ‰๐Ÿššโ›ฐ๐Ÿช I had a great time hiking Pearsoll Peak yesterday with @osingalaura from the #Obsidians. Pearsoll Peak lies near the border of Josephine and Curry counties, above the Illinois River outside of Selma.
Pearsoll Peak is 5,080 feet tall. What is lacks in height is made up in prominence. Its 2,600 feet of prominence makes it the 28th most prominent peak in Oregon, falling just behind North Sister and Mt Bachelor. It is the most prominent peak in #josephinecounty. It is the the high point of the #Kalmiopsis #Wilderness area which is part of the #rogueriversiskiyounationalforest.
We crossed the river on the swinging bridge and the followed old roads up to Chetco Pass where we saw the rusted out truck. From there it was a few more miles until the road dissolved into a trail and then we finally made the summit and the beautiful old #firelookout. Unfortunately it was locked and boarded up so we couldn't get in.
At the summit we enjoyed the beautiful weather and views while eating amazing #summittreats provided by @blondseraph.

It was a long but enjoyable day.
