Two sheets of homemade puff filled with blackberry jam I made in the summer, topped with cinnamon sugar, then twisted into the most wonderful strips of pie-like perfection. Looking particularly good in some bright sunshine. ✨

This is one of my most favorite pies - it starts with a freeform puff pastry crust that’s filled with pistachios that are drowned in a honey custard. After baking and cooling, it’s finished with a toasted saffron meringue. I piped it into this pretty dahlia inspired shape, but you can also just swoosh it on the top and it’s just as tasty (promise). It’s the perfect combo of crunchy, toasty, nutty, and creamy - and don’t forget #flakyAF

Today, on @food52: the perfect homemade treat you still have time to whip up for your Valentine (pun very much intended): my new layered nougat recipe! One base recipe (vanilla) can be tweaked into three additional flavors (strawberry, peanut butter, and chocolate). Then you can layer your favorite combos to make little striped candies. They end up somewhere between meringue + marshmallow: impossibly light and fluffy, and somehow they also melt in your mouth. I visited New Orleans for the first time a few years ago and fell, like so many before me, completely in love. I’m so excited to head back this spring - I plan to eat all of the beignets + hang with my wonderful baking bud @joythebaker (she is seriously just the loveliest). Side note: after my first trip to NOLA, I wrote this beignet recipe. A huge snowstorm hit the first time I made them, and while I was shooting this image, my neighbors began to pour out onto the sidewalks to shovel their walks. I bundled up and handed out the warm beignets up and down the block, and felt like an elf, handing out goodies as the snow fell.❄️

After lots of tweaking, I can proudly say this creamsicle pie fulfilled a longtime craving I’d been daydreaming of for ages - which got me thinking it was time to play another round of #pitchmeapie ! This is a story all about how my pie got flipped, turned upsidedown - now I’d like to take a minute (just sit right there), I’ll tell you how I ate it anyway because look how not soggy that bottom is + I loved this decision almost as much as I love TV theme songs and run on sentences...but cleaning the smooshed whipped cream out of the reclaimed wood table, that’s another story (and possibly another 90s reference) for another day.🥧

The sweet/savory French toast of my dreams: stuffed with spiced pears and gooey raclette. It’s like a French toast/grilled cheese hybrid - and it’s good enough to wake up for, but no judgements if you just want to go back to bed after. It’s the freakin weekend, after all - I’m gonna have me some fun (or naps). 😴
