@sabyasachiofficial is the first designer house to win the National Intellectual Property (IP) Award 2018 for the Top Indian company/organisation for Designs and Commercialisation given by the Indian Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The designer, in his Instagram caption, said, “The fashion industry has been victim to piracy for quite some time. Duplicity of exclusive creations has taken a toll on the industry both commercially and morally. An air of pessimism has inadvertently set in, and there are murmurs that originality finds no appreciation. However, we have chosen to take the path less travelled and started investing our efforts heavily in getting our designs registered. We believed in the adage that the change we seek has to start from within. We are grateful for the IPR laws, because of which we have been able to protect our creative contributions and retain exclusivity in artistry.
In an age when we are struggling against outrageous piracy, laws and measures such as these become indispensable. This has also helped us reassure our customers, who have consistently believed in the brand and expected unconvoluted products from our end.”
