Heya. So, this dynamite woman in between #MamaJudy & me is #NadiaAlawa, founding president of #NuDaySyria
& all around powerhouse human being.. we had the honor of hearing her #keynote @brandeisuniversity #deisimpact2018 Festival of Social Justice this week. (👊 to all the awesome #deisimpact students in the house) @ethicsbrandeis
As Syria's brutal conflict unfolded, Nadia here took action & founded @NuDaySyria -an astounding humanitarian relief organization- at her kitchen table in 2013. (over-achiever alert: she is also a mother of EIGHT children, whom she homeschools..) *NuDay Syria sends 40-foot shipping containers of donations (clothes, toys, med-supplies, home-goods.. filled w #HOPE & #LOVE from here in the US) monthly from #NewHampshire DIRECTLY to #refugee camps in northern #Syria. Crowdsourced campaigns focus on aiding #widows & #children, with a special interest in empowering #women to be self-reliant.
NuDay Syria focuses primarily on those in need in Syria, both in besieged areas and in the north. It also helps people rebuild their lives through work opportunities, social business & self-sustainability programs for women, along with supporting #schools.
Do check out Nadia’s powerful TED talk “How a New Hampshire Mom created change in Syria”. She also was recognized by The Huffington Post as one of the "Top Ten Muslims Who Save Lives." I know I’ll be joining Nadia in donating, volunteering, packing, etc. w as many containers possible this year & you’re most welcome to join her/us, too! Visit her website & FB page for packing dates & if you wanna find a way to get involved in this awesome initiative 🙌 www.nudaysyria.net
