The link to 'Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy' is in my bio. I would watch it sooner rather than later in case it gets taken down like other documentaries have. For those who have seen it, what did you think?
I found it hard to keep back the tears! It is lovely to finally see a documentary about Diana that doesn't focus on the gossipy bits, but instead looks back at her through the eyes of her sons, as well as and those who were close to her and who were affected by her. William and Harry clearly wanted to take control of how their mother was remembered.
The Princes have followed their mother's example by remaining involved in charities she introduced them to. We saw William visiting a homeless shelter that Diana frequently visited, and Harry is shown in Barbados for a World AIDS Day event he spearheaded.
Harry joked about the 'bizarre' matching outfits his mother dressed him and William in. "I like to think she had great fun dressing us up, I'm sure that wasn't it, but I sure as hell am going to dress my kids up the same way."
The saddest part of the documentary was hearing about the horrid way the media treated Diana. People complain that the Cambridges need to share more of themselves, but you can see why they are so cautionary.
"One lesson I’ve learned is, you never let them in too far because it’s very difficult to get them back out again,” William says of the media. “You’ve got to maintain a barrier and a boundary.”
It was also heartbreaking to hear about the Princes' last telephone call to their mother, and how they wished they didn't hurry it along as much as they had.
Harry admitted that he has only cried twice since his mother's death, and that he still needs to let out a lot of grief.
Next year, William will be the same age his mother was when she died at 36.
"We felt incredibly loved, Harry and I, and very grateful that that love still feels there." #PrincessDiana #KateMiddleton #TheRoyals #Beautiful #Diana #love #legacy
