It takes a lot for me to break down, but yesterday I broke down. Then I was frustrated that I allowed myself to react. Then I put my yoga profession to emotional use, not only how to be less reactive, but how to "feel the feels," acknowledge & validate them, then let them go. I practiced what I preach daily, "be OK with not being OK." I allowed myself to FEEL it all, rather than push it away to some temporary happy place, in order to release & get back to my happy place, which helped me through it. It felt good to cry. Real. Then I recieved a random love text from a friend, also from another friend to join her in the @mondaymidwaycruisercruise, so I grabbed my Clash t shirt & sweet girls to laugh & embrace it all. (THANK YOU for being my people, part of my playful tribe. I needed it.) A quote in my home reads, "A LITTLE NONSENSE NOW & THEN IS RELISHED BY THE WISEST MEN." -Willy Wonka. I truly believe being childlike and silly is sometimes the best medicine. Laughter heals. This is my yoga. Good friends, good music, & my husband/girls make my world go 'round. ❤️🙏🏻😂

We did it! A mere taste of 2,500 landscape photos, feeling elation not only fulfilling a 20 year dream with a new heart (! 6 months post open heart surgery) but with a new respect and admiration for my teenage daughters (conquering 108 hard miles, high altitude, below zero temps with not ONE complaint) and the Nepali children/school we helped through humanitarian work. These show mostly Everest herself & Ama Dablam, "mother of Everest" in the chain of the worlds highest peaks, & visiting the worlds highest monasteries. The Himalayas are one of my happy places, with people in these high tiny villages greeting you with "Namaste." Viva Nepal! I'm a happy girl. ❤️🇳🇵

Kicked off the backpack & boots and took advantage of this rock & breathing at a "lower" 13,000 ft altitude, nearly 100 miles & 2 weeks in at this point, on our way to Everest Base Camp. A simple little flow in a simple little village (Phortse, Nepal) to loosen up & breathe (which is more difficult at this altitude) In love with the braided, immense Himalaya mountains. Fulfilling my dream of 20 years, with a new heart 6 months post open heart surgery, I feel amazing & I am me again. My life story has many more chapters. Yoga Therapy for structural alignment- What is your posture telling you? Notice the enlarged, overworked left side of her back. Overworking one side of the body to unknowingly compensate the other side is very common. Most of us have one side stronger or more flexible than the other. This beautiful dancer has a gently curved lower spine, (diagnosed by her doctor) right hip higher than the other, making the left side work harder. She's also young and still growing. Left twists & stretches in both upper and lower body are more difficult, yet right side is extremely flexible. Her left trapezius & IT band extremely tight. Sitting upright, her left scapulae stuck out nearly an inch farther back than her right. Though she has no painful inflammation, pain in the cervical and thoracic muscle attachments are usually caused by weaker small postural muscles attached to the spine, which makes the larger muscles (trapezius, rhomboids) work harder to stabilize the spine, becoming overworked, tight, and enlarged. Yoga helps balance strength in these smaller muscles/tissues as well as the majors, as many activities involve mainly major muscle groups. After some therapeutic stretches, assisted twists, and applied pressure to left rhomboid, trapezius, shoulder, & medias, while strengthening the other side as it held/stabilized the poses, both scapulae sat in alignment and the pictured bulge relaxed significantly. Everything is connected, one area effects another as it all works together to create the whole. This girl is so receptive to her body and has loved incorporating yoga into her dance regime. Having this understanding of her structure and movement at her young age will take her far, taking her health seriously by seeing a doctor, getting deep tissue massages, consistent mobility & asking for poses/stretches to help. *We will be working on strengthening those smaller postural muscles to balance the release of tension, enabling her to move more freely in balanced alignment with time. #yogatherapy #yogatherapist #yoga #utahyogaandwellness #wasatchdancecenter #yogafordancers #thaimassage #alignmentmatters @wasatchdance #lovemyjob @mandukayoga @prana
