I have loved elephants for as long as I can remember. I have dreamt of the day when I could ride elephants somewhere in Asia through a jungle.
However, after learning more about the elephant tourism industry, it became very important to me that I found an elephant sanctuary that had a "No riding, No chains, No beating" policy. Laos used to be known as the "land of a million elephants" but today is more like the "land of 800-1,000 elephants" due to war, tourism, logging , poaching, etc.
I had the best day learning about them and accompanying them on their walk through the jungle. It was a wonderful way to interact with these gentle giants. If you ever get the opportunity to interact with them I strongly encourage you to find a sanctuary that is doing its best to conserve elephants and increase the population.
