About Stephanie Meyer, Ph.D.: “If children are having difficulties meeting the demands of their particular developmental stage, then it’s our responsibility as adults to figure out what’s getting in the way.

Dr. Stephanie Meyer's approach to child assessment and treatment is shaped by this belief: "Kids do well if they can." Coined by Dr. Ross Greene in his Collaborative Problem Solving model, this simple phrase and accompanying belief system challenge conventional wisdom about why children behave in the ways that they do. Extensive research into brain-behavior relationships suggests that children often behave in challenging ways because they lack the skills that would allow them to meet adult expectations, not because they are “manipulative,” “attention-seeking,” or “spoiled.” To read more about Stephanie Meyer, Ph.D. please visit http://www.child-assessment.com/about-1/

95.38% of us are living with consistent pain, many on a level between 5-10, with only a faint memory of what 0-1 was like as a young child. 90.86% of us are experiencing musculoskeletal symptoms such as: subluxations, dislocations, sprains and instability. 80.19% of us have chronic nervous system diagnosis’s that interfere with daily life such as: dysautonomia, POTS, headaches, migraines and instability of the neck. 75.88% of us experience digestive malfunctions: gerd, IBS, gastropresis, vomiting, and nausea. 57.9% of us are patients with cardiac problems. 78.93% report profound fatigue, which makes sense with all of our other complications and 77.61% living with sleep dysfunctions. Yet when you meet one of us you won’t see it because it is invisible. Doctors often miss the diagnosis categorizing us into fibromyalgia, psychosomatic or only one piece of our illness. It’s complex and multi-systemic leaving many medical pro’s unaware that all of our symptoms connect into one disease, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome-a connective tissue disorder.

You might not feel like a hero every day, but when you have a chronic illness you have to celebrate the smalls things.

Image reads: “A hero is an ordinary individual, who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.

This is why I talk about EDS. This is why #awareness is so important.

#TeamEDSWellness with @lindabluestein - when she stayed at our new house for a night before heading to Baltimore for the EDS Conference with @tammerz_78, one of our other board members. You can learn more about everyone on our board, even more about EDS Wellness, read who we are, our story, our mission, vision and much more on EDSWellness.org - partial relaunch coming super soon! Finally! Our site will now have board member bios, pictures, include membership & helpline updates, new content, several new video recordings from events, classes, podcasts and interviews. We also have new community forums that were built into the site but are now ready for activity! This whole entire site update project that I’ve been working on for far too long was much needed. There were navigation issues that really needed to be fixed and links that were not working; however, this site update turned into complete and massive overhaul. There’s a lot of content on our site! This has been a huge project of completely dismantling the site and rebuilding it from scratch - all on my own. My education & expertise are not in building & fixing websites - it’s in developing and implementing programs. Creating resources, conducting research & writing about that research. I love to teach, instruct & guide those I work with. And I love planning fun educational wellness events (@wellapalooza). However, after the last 3-4 years and especially after this project, I’m completely self-taught and building websites, especially the design component, majorly fulfills my tech geek side. I can do without all the sitting though - even though I sit in the floor and move constantly. The EDS Wellness site will remain a work in progress. I will be working through correcting all issues, adding content and continuing to make much needed navigational improvements - even after it’s partially relaunched. Feedback will be more than welcome - it’s imperative. Have ideas for content to add or resources that you would like to have available? Share!

Headed home after an awesome Restorative Exercise Specialist Certification Week with @NutritiousMovement, but we first drove through the Olympic Game Park. We saw several amazing animals - including a few beautiful zebras! I even met another hypermobile/EDSer who’s going through the same program. That makes 3 of us (at least) who will be/are RES Certified! And finally, the EDS Wellness site will be back up soon with new site navigation, videos, content, swag & more! Thank you for your patience! @s.maire.ammon 🙏🏻 #Gratitude @lindabluestein @tammerz_78 @hale0013 @kendranmyles #TeamEDSWellness #EDSWellness #LiveEDSStrong #IntegrativeMedicine #FunctionalMedicine #Hypermobility #EhlersDanlos #ChronicPain #ChronicFatigue #Just5Minutes #MovementMatters #MoveYourDNA #MindBodySoul #EDSStrong #NonProfit #GiveBack #Wellness #HealthEducation #PublicHealth #MedEd #InvisibleIllness #EDSWI #ZebraStrong #EDUCATIONDIAGNOSISSOLUTIONS

My sister caught this little random sweet moment of us. His arm around me. The way he leans on my chair is so familiar. Ignoring the world around us. Just a simple kiss in passing. As much as I struggle with feeling like I hold him back at times, I also know absolutely that I raise him up. Seeing this photo of our love reminds me that my illness will never cause a rift. It has made our marriage stronger, more honest and open with extra gratitude to exist together. Whether we are traveling or stuck on the couch, as long as I am with him, my life is better ... He's not a martyr or hero for staying with me when my health worsened. There is no reason to pity our marriage. We both give our all to each other. He cuts the grass. I pay the bills. He does the driving. I plan the trips. Balance exists in our relationship. Sickness threw off the scales as we adjusted, but we learned how to navigate; we shifted our roles. This is love!
Love you, @sub_sides

Our team. The @edswellness team minus @hale0013 (she joined us via zoom). It’s easy to fill the board of directors with family and close friends who agree just because; however, it’s harder to fill it with individuals who are truly committed - reconfirming their commitment over and over because of the work you do and because they whole-heartedly believe in (& live by) the mission and vision of the organization. 🙏🏻 #Gratitude @lindabluestein @edswisconsin @tammerz_78 @hale0013 @kendranmyles #TeamEDSWellness #EDSWellness #LiveEDSStrong #IntegrativeMedicine #FunctionalMedicine #Hypermobility #EhlersDanlos #ChronicPain #ChronicFatigue #Just5Minutes #MovementMatters #MoveYourDNA #MindBodySoul #EDSStrong #NonProfit #GiveBack #Wellness #HealthEducation #PublicHealth #MedEd #InvisibleIllness #EDSWI #ZebraStrong #EDUCATIONDIAGNOSISSOLUTIONS
