One of the top photography tips I give people on a regular basis is that when you see something you want to capture to actually stop and get it right then! The lighting will never be the same and you might just not see it again! This was one of those moments that ended up taking about an hour overall but I’m so glad we took the time and stopped!

Raoul Wallenberg Park is a place of commemoration for the people who risked their lives to help keep the Jewish population of Budapest safe during the days of exportation in WWII. Raoul Wallenberg was a Swedish diplomat at the time, and was one of the principle leaders in the movement to protect the Hungarian Jews. If this group had been caught, they would have been executed.

The famous Tree of Life memorial is a commemorative sculpture that has its home in the center of the park. It was designed to pay tribute to the 5,000 Holocaust victims that are buried in the area. It is made into the shape of a willow tree, which in traditional Hungarian Jewish thinking, is a symbol of mourning. It can also represent an overturned menorah. There is also a synagogue here, with some rather famous copies of torahs housed in their ark.

Predjama Castle is a Renaissance castle built within a cave mouth in south-central Slovenia, in the historical region of Inner Carniola. The castle was first mentioned in the year 1274 with the German name Luegg, when the Patriarch of Aquileia built the castle in Gothic style. The castle was built under a natural rocky arch high in the stone wall to make access to it difficult.

The Grand Canal in Trieste, Italy.

The Hemesferic also known as the planetarium or the “eye of knowledge,” is the centerpiece of the City of Arts and Sciences. It was the first building completed in 1998. Its design resembles an eyelid that opens to access the surrounding water pool. The bottom of the pool is glass, creating the illusion of the eye as a whole.

Happy National Bird Day! This flock of Snow Geese were awesome subjects to capture! What a sight!

The church of San Nicola is located in a slightly elevated vineyard east of Giornico. It is considered the most impressive example of Lombard Romanesque architecture in Switzerland.

Neither construction dates nor owners are exactly known. There is a stone slab bearing the date 1168, but it is uncertain whether this refers to the construction or the consecration of the church.

The walls are built of hewn granite stones from the area. Beneath the roof, blind arcades lead around the building. The portals are decorated with mythical creatures. The rectangular nave is unrendered and open to the roof, on the walls remains of medieval frescoes are still visible. The crypt is only slightly recessed and open to the nave. One can simultaneously see the crypt and the choir above from the nave. The choir ends in an apse. In the ceiling of the apse there are late Gothic wall paintings of Nicolao da Seregno from the second half of the 15th century.
