Don Roper of Piedmont, SC poses for a portrait. Don is one of the last remaining players of the textile baseball league in South Carolina. Mills and mill villages were the life blood of the South. From the 1930s to 1970s workers would play organize baseball as an outlet and entertainment for their village. This was the equivalent of AA and AAA ball and eventually led to the prevalence of American Legion baseball.
Fun fact, I played summer ball on some of the same fields Don played on.
Unfortunately this personal project started a little too late, there's not many left from that era. #makeportraits #livinglight #editorialphotographer @elinchrom_ltd #flashbackfriday
