Been a little MIA on here because the event / floral world can be tough stuff sometimes! To be clear - we LOVE our jobs and what we do and are beyond privileged to get to do this work - but it is important to recognize that this work is difficult, dirty, sweaty and at times stressful. The work of creating beautiful things / experiences etc can often times be anything but outwardly beautiful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
What I love more than anything though is how open and committed our team is to learning on the job when experiences are new, how willing our freelancers and full timers are to listen to, take in and adjust from feedback and how resilient we all are when shit gets tough. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Working out in Palm Springs / “Coachella” the past several days can sound really cool - and its not that its not cool - it is a great in many ways, but we are here to work - not to play. We had a string of almost 18-24 hour days in order to get the job done and that is never ever the ideal, nor the expectation - but this business is full of unexpected surprises. Many things can go wrong, whether its environmental or a human error or just miscommunication and the important thing I’ve learned is to remember that “this too shall pass” and to not to forget to assume the best of those around me - even if I feel let down by someone - this goes not just for me but for my whole team. I never ever want my team to have to miss an hour of necessary sleep, or forfeit work life balance or self care to get the job done - but when things go wrong and we all have to rush to stop the bleeding to make sure we deliver on and keep our commitments to our clients - my gals (and guys) show up ready to get the job done. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
I am seriously blown away by how lucky I am to be surrounded by such fierce humans that are so committed to their craft. Okay thats all for now. We will post stories of the cool shit we made out in CA soon. We hope you love it - it was hard but we did it and we feel so grateful to have risen to the occasion.
