Sad Gerbera still has beauty. #gerbera

The fragrance of lilacs in early evening after an 80-degree day is heavenly. #lilac

The volunteer Columbines are especially beautiful this year. Each year, the flowers are different from the previous year...for almost 10 years! They have been annoying because they pop up everywhere, but when they have pretty flowers, I am okay with them in and among the other plants. #columbine

Sometimes, shallow depth of field with grass in the background works perfectly. #dof #bleedinghearts #art #nature

Inspired by @poppybarach's #itsamoodywednesday tulips, I used these mums to match the very moody day here.

I'm sure someone planted these at the side of a restored commercial building years ago, but no one really takes care of them. This is the time of year when they are in their glory. #flowers #vibrant

My first peony to bloom in spite of 45-degree days and 30-degree nights. Rose Crystal is a single peony that never disappoints. #peony @colby_spikes @sheewulff

The lowly petunia has a new look here! This one is planted with blue lobelia in a ceramic bowl. I bought it without a second thought! #petunia #purple

Peony tulips...only early flowers are blooming here right now, but they are so colorful and wonderfully similar to those luscious peonies that are going to bloom in a few weeks. #tulips #pink #springflower

Delicate little white hearts come early in spring; I wish they lasted longer. #bleedinghearts #springflower #hearts #shadyplant #whiteflower @j.follett ...hearts! 😃

Imagine driving west across the "flat" land of northern Oregon on I-84 and the majestic snow-covered Mt.Hood is dominating the horizon. There's a lot of country between this view point and the mountain! It was visible for most of the cross-state trip--a unique experience. #mthood #I-84 #oregonexplored #visitoregon

A few years ago, I bought a little clematis plant for our son and his wife's apartment and planted it at the base of a climbing rose...nothing the first year and then it exploded! It's now 8 feet wide and 6 feet tall. #clematis #pdx #flowersuccess
