Bychance managed to see a day before opening the fresh exhibition ”Äimän Tähkä” by Jan Anderzén, a warm-up event for Tampere Biennale expanding to Helsinki in Tiketti Galleria.
Jan's large artistic input was earlier familiar to me mostly from his participation on Avarus music collective and the records which I had heard from his Kemialliset Ystävät group. Audio installation from this exhibiton was not yet playing, some light-setups were yet unfinished and there were some tools & ladders around. Somehow felt yet this visitation to a nearly unfinished and still so fresh exhibition arouse very powerful subjective thoughts.
Jan's visual style resonated strongly with impressions I got from my cursory perception of his music; Mosaic-like, similarly synthetic and organic textures fusioning symmetric compositions of solid forms, detailed with strong current of static alterations. I contemplated this fusion of figures flirting with both abstract modernism and naïvistic pop-art, so blissfully melting striking colors as pleasantly familiar but still alienating organic projections. I think my fascination was boosted from difficulties I had earlier in adapting my ears for his music (I'm not very open to electronic beat), but here on level of sight where I usualy worship dramatic figurative classicism, my sonic memories and visual reality merged to a concrete, powerful experience - A pure realization of ecstatic void, which cannot by interpred in concrete manner, but which as an emotional encounter I try to describe. On purpose I left the picture's names and exhibition description unread, just revelling in moment of new mindset, where the flow of fresh visions synthesized to my subjective musical flashbacks, allowing similarly grand and easy revelation of psychological curiosities of experiencing art.
My most symmetrical recommendarions to go and figure this out yourself starting from tomorrow!
