Super delayed first post of the year (because I've spent most of the new year finishing coursework lool) πŸ˜…
But this is the most promising start to the year ever!! 🀯
Taken exactly 11 days ago, I think I found the best pole studio in Singapore πŸ’˜
I had never tried #pdbirdofparadise before in my life because I thought my legs / hips were not flexy enough yet, and even though that's somewhat correct, it also takes the right technique and I'm so grateful for this class at @polelab where they focus on good technique ☺️
Thank you to @bendymochi and all the super lovely people at PoleLab for the best start to my new year! πŸ˜πŸ’ž
Also, one of the things I love about pole is that when one person gets a trick, the whole class celebrates β˜ΊοΈπŸ˜„β˜ΊοΈ
Next step is to be able to get into this myself πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ
#trainsafe #polesafe #spotwell!!

Grateful for these beautiful souls, my pole family πŸ’–
Thank you for being my rock throughout my uni years, and sticking it through with me through thick and thin πŸ‘―β€β™€οΈπŸ‘―β€β™‚οΈ
Special shout outs to the lady who was my first pole mama @renee_renome, who has the most beautiful heart and is always full of love πŸ’ž
And to the stars who constantly light up my life, #faves @georgenorge @this.is.radhika @h.c.esther @melissa_l19 @adela.alie 😘
And to @mellanienutellanie who always gives me the kindest words and believes in my pole ability possibly more than I do myself 😍 :')
And to the BUDA CREW, there are too many of you to list! Thank you for the most bomb pole camp ever! Can't wait for the next one πŸ˜‰πŸ’—
Love you all and can't wait for another year with you all @uclpolefitness πŸ’

Grateful for the person who inspired this routine πŸ’
Someone who has been there for me in some of the darkest times of my last few years, and some of the brightest ✨
One of my best confidantes and supporters who loves to be behind the scenes πŸ§œπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ
Thank you πŸ’ž
(I know, #poledancersofinstagram, you would like me to point my toes... I am really trying okay πŸ˜…)
Full routine is in my bio ☺️

From Christmas Eve with some of the old small group from teenage church days πŸ’’
Grateful to have known this bunch and grown up with them for ~9 (and some for ~14+ since primary school?)* years now ☺️
It's really heartwarming to have a bunch of grounded, talented and interesting friends to catch up with when I'm back in SG. Plus, we finally made a good eggnogπŸ₯›(thanks to Zenn's baking skills? 🀣)
* I can't count πŸ˜¬πŸ˜…

I have a confession, my inverts have always been a weak point for me.
Basic straddle, shouldermount, handspring - I've generally treated them as a way to get upside down and do a "real" trick, "what I came to do"... But last year, I made a commitment to start taking them seriously and now I see the value of a clean, beautiful invert.
If you've seen some of @evabembo's videos, she makes leg waves on shouldermount look beautiful and so so sexy πŸ˜πŸ’ž
I decided I want that too. No more spider / monkey legs to get into my shoulder mount, no more just holding it for a picture.
And in line with @cirque_physio 's #cirquephysiocircusgoals challenge, here's one of my goals for this coming year:
Cleaner and more pretty inverts (aerial as well!), with pointed toes. πŸ’ƒπŸ» For some reason my inverts suffer from flexed foot syndrome πŸ˜…
What will I do to get there?
I've decided to incorporate at least one invert conditioning exercise and one pointe conditioning exercise into my warm up before all practices, even those that I feel lazy to do...
I also signed myself up for @polelab's shouldermount "crash course" at their beautiful new studio in Robinson, and I finally did my first lift into #pdshouldermount and my first leg waves in it too! It was awesome ☺️

Throwback to my last full backbend practice. It's been hard to train since as I've been ill and swamped with uni and work recently... Even right now when I'm training / doing any exercise, I feel I'm at 70% due to a niggling chest infection.
With every practice, I find myself in more control and able to breathe deeper than before.
I still have a long way to go, especially in the shoulders, but I am so much closer.
This is one of my favourite back stretches from @anastasiaskukhtorovapoledance, and I like to use it as a benchmark of where my backbend is. I'm happy to report my hips are finally opening 😍
In flexibility, there is strength.

Just a week ago, I had my second snow of the season πŸ˜πŸ’˜
Other kids do their apres-ski at La Folie Douce, but I just do some yoga by the window... πŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈβ„οΈ
Thanks for capturing this moment @alxndraklee πŸ’–

The last couple of months have been a whirlwind of busy-ness, deadlines, family commitments, work, and on and off illness, but I can say that it's all been worth it.
In fact, when I look back to the same time from last year, I was definitely struggling with a lot more. So I'm thankful that my happiness with life has generally improved.
Pole has definitely been one of the key elements of my life that has kept it all together, from the community to the sport and art itself.
It's not often that you find a song that is perfect for your style, and this is one of them. This is an improvement on the routine I performed at @uclpolefitness members and friends showcase, one of my most complex and favourite routines so far. And it's all about vulnerability and connection.
Spinny combo inspired by one of my favourite polers since I started, @marioncrampe 😍 I learnt the first part of it from her at @mountain_pole_camp (which I will post about soon, now that I'm finally able to breathe 😬), and I love the combo so much - it's so elegant and beautiful πŸ’ž
I can't wait to see what the pole life has in store for me next!
P.S. The FULL ROUTINE is in the link in my bio! πŸ˜‰

Whilst you're waiting for me to do dem edits and post some more new stuff, here's a throwback to a part of one of my fave serendipitous freestyles ☺️
Something that I'm obsessed with is doing beautiful basics - everyone be chasing tricks and I just wanna be beautiful 😬😭
Where this beautiful move in the middle just emerged from idk and I've never seen it before, but I'm sure it must exist.. If not, did I make it? πŸ€” Everyone has their own interpretation to tricks, and I don't think anyone "owns" a trick, they simply popularise it.
Dancing my ❀️ out to one of my fave songs to dance to - It's all about a girl, tryna find her place in the wild world that's got her so confused.. But she's a weirdo and just gotta own it πŸ™ƒ
(The full freestyle I posted back in June I think ☺️)
#loudandproud #weirdisgood
The world wants you to point your toes, the world wants you to get a 2:1 and a "real job" and make dem monies, but I've got a "heel point" and can't you see i'm werkin betchez 😬
