Recently, I was invited to join the Advisory Board of @arcticencountersymposium, the largest annual Arctic policy event in the United States. It brings together international leaders in policymaking, science, technology, maritime, and energy sectors to discuss issues and solutions that affect Arctic communities and our planet. I've traveled all over Alaska for the past nine months providing eye care to remote communities and I've witnessed firsthand how different and special life is in the Arctic region. Unique challenges, genuine people, harsh conditions, wildlife, and intense natural beauty all magically collide. In this video, an Inupiat elder from Kobuk hangs fish to dry on her fish rack, like she has done for decades and her family has done for generations.
