On the surface we all probably know one brand manager or the other. It's a title with a detailed job description that often includes day to day and long term strategic planning and execution of plans and ideas for a brand (product, service, idea or project)
So we have Brand Manager for Malta Guinness or Brand Manager for Royco cubes. Often, such a person would report to a portfolio brand manager in charge of that entire category, who in turn reports to a group brand manager or marketing manager who, depending on the scope and size of the marketing department, reports to a marketing director. .
But beyond these day to day job descriptions is the fact that, regardless of your title, as long as you are playing a role regarding the health and wealth of a brand, you are a brand custodian and must think like a BRAND MANAGER. .
This cuts across titles such as Managing Director, Marketing Director, Sales Manager, Communications Manager, Account planner, Client Service Executive and Copywriter.
You must all wear the hat of the brand manager. This is the way the brand can best benefit.
You can compare it to the way Israel manages security. To Israel, Security is every citizen's job not just the security forces.
