Bulk season for me continues and will not stop until the end of next month. I’ve already gained 10 additional pounds since I started bulking last month and increased my strength in each muscle group. Time for back and shoulder day. Pictured is just a warm up. More plates will be loaded. Next year is a new me and a new athlete. Is anybody else smashing weights today in the gym? #ClarkKentWasVegan

This year has been one of the busiest years of my life. I have had the opportunities to speak and connect with thousands of people all over the world. My audience continues to grow and so does the demand for plant-based food, better education in nutrition and wellness, and more importantly, accessibility and affordability with respect to vegan options. Next year is just around the corner and I am excited to kick it off with some incredible initiatives, including doing all I can to visit more communities and cities needing my presence, to help raise awareness. The gentlemen on this panel pictured above (@jonnyjuicer, @torrewashington and @badassvegan) share similar goals and it’s because of this, we will be traveling together to Little Rock Arkansas January 12 to speak on an inclusive plant-based panel, designed for outreach and more. This panel is being hosted by the IFBB Pro and fellow vegan, @gardengrowngoddess, a strong community leader there. I want to encourage you all that are in Arkansas, and the surrounding areas and states, including Missouri, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Tennessee, East Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and more, to come out for this special event. We are already at half capacity. So click on the link in my bio to get your ticket today. See you beautiful souls soon! - Dom ✌🏽🌱🐘

First training session for today complete. Two more to go. Post workout meal is this 32 ounce strawberry hemp seed banana maca smoothie, courtesy of the @eatwhatelephantseat kitchen. What’s some of your favorite post-workout meals? Comment below. 👇🏽

They call him Jupiter. I call him my brother. He’s the largest herbivore I met here in the State of Georgia. Certainly, he is one of the largest I met in life, besides my 3000 lb homie Charlie, at Cedars Row in Ontario. What do me and this big fella have in common? We both eat #plants and we both are strong AF. This weekend, do your soul and future self a favor, go out and visit and volunteer at your nearest farm or animal sanctuary. These beautiful beings need love and the caretakers can certainly use some help. Visiting sanctuaries is therapeutic and the new yoga. At least for me it is. - Dom ✌🏽🌱🐘

Which is better? The keto or plant-based diet? Both are trending and more mainstream than ever. I spoke on this before but let’s revisit it with five key points I would like for you to consider from Dr. Michelle McMacken @veg_md: .
.
1. That we know of, no population in history has ever thrived on a very-low-carb/high-fat diet. There is exactly zero scientific evidence that a keto diet is conducive to longevity & longstanding vitality - unlike a plant-centric diet, the foundation of the longest-lived people on earth.
.
2. A keto diet may cause short-term weight loss, but possibly at a serious price. A 2010 review found that low-carb, animal-based diets increased cardiovascular death by 14%, cancer death by 28%, & all-cause mortality by 23%- trends confirmed in other large studies.
.
3. A keto diet hasn’t been shown to prevent, control, or reverse type 2 diabetes in the long run. Avoiding carbs will temporarily lower your blood sugar if you have diabetes. But this simply masks the underlying problem, which is insulin resistance – ie, glucose in our blood can’t enter our cells & the liver overproduces sugar. This is NOT the fault of carbs from healthy foods – whole grains, legumes, fruit, or even starchy vegetables. In fact, a high-carb, high-fiber, plant-based diet is exceptionally protective against diabetes & can actually REVERSE insulin resistance & lower diabetes complications. In contrast, low-carb diets can promote diabetes over time, as they foster inflammation & fat buildup in our cells, causing insulin resistance.
.
4. Keto diet research is in its infancy, focusing on short-term blood results & body weight – not actual rates of disease or death. And some findings are concerning. LDL cholesterol levels tend to rise (or at best, stay the same) on keto diets. An overwhelming wealth of research shows that the higher the LDL,the higher the risk of cardiovascular disease.
.
5. A keto diet is low in refined grains & added sugar, which is great. But it also can be low in phytonutrients, antioxidants, & fiber, all of which have profound benefits, and it forbids some of the most powerfully health-promoting foods on earth – whole grains, legumes, & many fruits.

In a complex world full of hate, social prejudice, negative energy and more, I personally #salute all the brave men redefining masculinity while fighting and assertively educating an outdated society full of closed small minds. Special shout out to the women who support us, love us and simply have our backs. Thank you. - Dom ✌🏽🌱🐘

This is a really good reminder and I feel it’s important to share. I actually say often “smash two coconuts with one stone” instead of “kill two birds with one stone”. The other terms above I never used in the past and that has to do mostly in part with my culture and upbringing. In summary, language certainly shapes the way we all see the world. We all can certainly do better with communicating to others, including myself. What are some of your favorite animal or vegan friendly terms you use or had struggled to eliminate from your vocabulary? Comment below. 👇🏽 .

To the beautiful people of Florida, thank you for the memories this past weekend at the vegfest. I ate some amazing plant-based food and connected with so many amazing souls. Now, I’m back at home in ATL, decompressing after driving back 9 hours on the road. Sweater and hoodie season is in full swing. So is my schedule for 2019. I don’t know about you all but I’m ready to hit the reset button next year with so amazing initiatives and goals. I have a few big announcements I will be making in the next two weeks so get excited. I know I am, because what I am going to do next is do my very best to help feed the world plant-based food through my food and nutrition company, @eatwhatelephantseat, launching in January. Stay tuned. One love. - Dom ✌🏽🌱🐘

The future of plant-based food and nutrition is strong. So are the opportunities it will have for us all, in and outside of this growing vegan community. More importantly, plant-based food will be the biggest weapon in the future in saving human and animal lives. Myself and @the_sustainable_ceo will be discussing this, the intersection of veganism, masculinity and so much more tomorrow at the @vegfestexpos Fort Lauderdale vegfest at 3pm. I will also be hanging out at the @craziesandweirdos booth all day. So, if you are in south Florida, come vibe and connect with us and a beautiful community of like-minded people. I will see you beautiful souls there. - Dom ✌🏽🌱🐘

The power of #Plants is a beautiful thing. Here is a clip from the @built4anythingpodcast of me explaining what exactly 17 years of planet-based eating has done for my mental health. Full episode now available on YouTube. Link is in @built4anythingpodcast bio. Thanks for the taking time to listen. -Dom ✌🏽🌱🐘

I want you all to take a moment to understand it’s not everyday a publication highlights an activist on the cover of their magazine. Let alone, one of color. We all know how exclusive media can be with their lack of diversity and inclusivity, including the ones inside the plant-based and vegan communities. You know who they are. So, I want to give a special thanks to the staff of @brightzine magazine for the honor of featuring me and my story on the cover and inside their latest edition being released December 7th worldwide. As I have said many times before in the past, there is a gang of us passionate warriors from diverse and humble backgrounds, pushing for real change and redefining stereotypes across the globe. No matter the race, or what social change we are fighting for, many of us would not be where we are today if it wasn’t for the fearless activists before us, such as one of the original OGs to social change, painted on the wall behind me, Dr. King. A man of color, heart, courage and simply ahead of his time. I too hope I can be just as half as great as he was and others before me in my quest for real change. - Dom ✌🏽🌱🐘

‪Dear women: I personally just want you to know I strongly believe you are one of the greatest creations, engineered and produced by the Universe. I mean it. Now go kick some ass today. The world needs you. - Dom ✌🏽🌱🐘‬
