Well, guys, it was an interesting weekend for the Finn family. A pipe burst in the storage facility where we store a lot of our childhood items, Christmas decor, patio furniture, etc (you can see the damage on Insta Stories). We headed there this morning to check out the damage and 90% of our stuff was destroyed. Even though we had most of our sentimental items in plastic bins, the water went up 3 feet high and submerged our lifetime of memories. It was crushing and I'm not gonna lie, we both shed a few tears looking at so many of our items ruined. I really lost it when we pulled out my wedding dress and it was soggy. All.the.tears.
The good news is, it's just STUFF. After losing a baby a few months ago, losing random possessions feels like nothing. We were able to save a few random items that didn't get touched by water and I'm taking my wedding dress in to see if a cleaners can salvage it for me (fingers crossed!). We both agreed that we'd rather have a ruined wedding dress than a ruined marriage. I suppose it's all about perspective.
It's been a rough 6 months for us and right when we think things are looking up, another bad thing happens. But I've got to think that it's going to turn around for us. We're trying to see the good and be grateful for our warm home, our life together, and our marriage. My mom said, "it gets darkest before the dawn." and I'm holding onto that. There just has to be good things ahead for us. 2019, we are here and ready for some good luck to head our way.
Thank you for all of the sweet messages and words of encouragement (and tips on saving items and drying them out!) We feel so lucky to have this community of friends cheering us on even on our darkest days. Thank you for your continued kindness. Now, time for some wine!! -C
