Being in a state of awareness inspires curiosity. When we immerse ourselves in the present moment we allow space for exploration. NYC is an amazing city to explore and be curious in. Summer is here and our yang energy is heating up. We become more active and engaged socially during the summer months. Enjoy this heightened energy by getting outdoors and spending time with loved ones. Yang in excess will dry up our insides, and can make us prone to illness associated with heat such as headaches, dehydration, infections, fevers, and irritability. Try to bring yin energy (relaxation) in to balance things out. Drink plenty of water or dive into a pool. Eat foods that have a coolness to them like mint, basil, and juicy fruits and vegetables. Slow down, relax and enjoy the present moment like these seeds floating around my campsite this weekend 🌳🌳🏕🌳🌳

Self awareness is an endless game of questioning. What do I see? What do I feel? What do I smell? What do I think? Awareness gives us the opportunity to notice our reactions and habits without judgement. Only when we gain the knowledge of what is are we able to accept ourselves as we are or make a change.

Parivrtta Hasta Padangusthasana (Revolved Hand-to-Foot Pose) is a standing balance with a strong twist. In this pose, the IT band receives a deep stretch, and the glutes and hamstrings are lengthened. The core and standing leg are worked strongly to keep the body stable, while the twist improves mobility in the spine and massages the abdominal organs, contributing to healthy digestion.
