I just posted a before/after of this random shot that I would have normally thrown out but with some editing was able to make some tweaks that made me more happy with it. Check out my IG story to see it! πŸ“±πŸ“”βœ¨β™»οΈ

Yesterday I posted on my IG story a before/after breakdown of the photo I posted last night & it was super interesting to hear everyone's feedback! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ
.
Quite a few people DM'd me surprised that my image was "Photoshopped" which I think really means "so it didn't look like that in person!?!".
.
And the answer often times is nope! I think a lot of people want to believe that photography is a machine that captures 100% truth but often times there is a lot of manipulation that goes into creating an image. It can be the cropping, the removal of things, the light, prompted posing, changing colors, what's in the frame, what's just outside the frame, perspective, lens choice etc…
.
But that is what I think makes photography as the language of today so compelling in the hands of artists. It's a way for people to share their unique vision with others. I also think it can be encouraging to you if you always wonder why all your photos don't look as amazing as the photos of the people you follow.
.
After capturing an image, it then all comes down to the edit to further enhance the story/feeling, which I think is the really fun part!! I mean, if all the photos we took of things looked "real" then all the photos on Instagram would be mega boring. All our shots would look the same and there is nothing interesting about sameness.
.
So I encourage you to shoot/edit YOUR vision, that's what makes your imagery unique from the other 600 million accounts on Instagram today. You are unique, you're one of a kind, and that's what makes life beautiful. So own that!!
.
....and on that note stop worrying about having a style or worrying about not knowing what your style is yet.
.
Style comes about automatically after you are able to look back on a large body of work. So if you don't have a bunch of experience or a bunch of imagery yet then you probably need to keep creating and worry about style later down the road! Definitely don't let that hold you back!! ;)

If you're interested I just posted a little before/after edit of this photo on my IG story. One of my favorite things about photography is having the ability to make an image my own. Editing is one of the key ways I play with that idea. Let me know what ya think! #fromwhereidrone πŸš—πŸ„πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ
