Happy spring! All the recent warm weather has us thinking about summer hikes, like the view from Ruple Point. This spot is currently inaccessible due to snow. Thanks to @human_gps17 for the gorgeous photo!

Sights and sounds of Spring! Snow is beginning to melt and the small intermittent drainage in front of the visitor center is flowing. #spring

Blue skies and melty spring weather at lower elevations doesn’t always translate higher up! Harper’s Corner Road is still closed to vehicles 5 miles above the Canyon Visitor Center, at Plug Hat Butte. Conditions are still excellent for skiing and snowshoeing, however!

There's still enough snow in most places in the monument to explore on cross country skis, and it's a great way to experience some quiet time. Thanks @patricejustin for sharing!

Here's a close up of a small section of the Quarry wall (see the pencil for scale). Can you guess which dino bones are in this photo? 🦖🦕 #fossilfriday #findyourpark #dinosaur #dinosaurnps

So there's a resident bobcat hanging around the Visitor Center 😻

He's also been spotted in the housing area, parking lot, and perched on top of rocky cliffs enjoying the sun!

"Are those real?" is one of the most commonly asked questions in the Quarry Exhibit Hall.
They are the real thing, and the sight of 1,500 fossils in the Quarry wall can be overwhelming. How did you feel when you first saw the 'wall of bones'? #allthefeelings #dinosaurnps #fossils #isthisreallife #dinosaurs

Utah State University archaeology student Audrey Pazmino spent last week working in the Dinosaur National Monument archaeology collections studying our Cub Creek groundstone collections. These stones were used by Native Americans of the Fremont culture, 2000 to 700 years ago, to grind corn and other grains for use in food. Captions: 1) Audrey measures these groundstones from a variety of angles in order to collect the data she needs to make identifications for her study.
2) These groundstones are likely sourced from the local Uinta Mountain Group (Precambrian/Neoproterozoic in age) and are composed of quartzite.
3) The shapes and details of the groundstones also help scientists like Audrey understand how they were used in prehistoric times.
4) Audrey uses digital calipers to make measurements of groundstones from the parks Cub Creek collections. #Science #museummonday #anthropology #archaeology #archeology

It’s not too often that you can say you cross-country skied in the desert, but this year Dinosaur is having some great conditions. The Cub Creek Road our to Josie’s Cabin is a roughly 2 mile one way ski suitable for beginners. The road is also open for snowshoeing and hiking. Pets are allowed as long as they are kept on a leash. #dinosaurnps #winter #snow #crosscountryskiing #snowshoeing

Are you anxiously awaiting the results of the High-Use Season boating lottery?

If so, the results of the lottery will be posted at 12AM MST tonight, and can be viewed in your Recreation.gov account. There were over 10,000 applications for permits this year (a new record), so may the odds ever be in your favor.
