deVOL Kitchens  Simple furniture, beautifully made. Cotes Mill in Leicestershire and Clerkenwell, London. Request one of our beautiful brochures 👇

Cleverly layered textures and prints, beautiful substantial deVOL cupboards and little nods to the Moroccan theme running throughout this home have all come together to create quite an original and wonderful kitchen. Thank you so much @houseofhackney for welcoming us into the new Loddiges Townhouse. #deVOLKitchens

Looking down from the Minstrels' gallery you get an amazing view of this Shaker kitchen and how incredible these vintage lamps look hanging from 5 metre lengths of chain. Such an impressive part of this room and the bit that takes it from a great kitchen to a fabulous kitchen. #deVOLKitchens

It's been such a busy year with new showrooms that have all been designed by our Creative Director @hapdesigns, and this fabulous Sebastian Cox display is the last one for now. Helen spends a lot of time sourcing all the things that go into these rooms, designing the furniture layouts, picking the worktops and appliances, deciding on colours and choosing lighting. Then there's all the extra little bits that make it feel like a proper and very special kitchen, the Italian brass tap, unusual kitchenalia, the artwork, a few classic pieces from @falconenamel and all the plants too. This new display is a nice culmination of months of hard work and it's very cool to see a space that Helen has envisaged turn into the loveliest kitchen right in front of us. #deVOLKitchens

The London Wall Cupboard is a newer addition to our Real Shaker range and was designed to work particularly well in larger rooms with high ceilings. The proportions of this cupboard, the glazing and the slim depth make it elegant and quite grand, perfect for those who want to make the most of their period property. #deVOLKitchens

Yesterday Tim and Helen headed east to visit the very cool owners of @houseofhackney. Our Classic English cupboards sit in their Victorian East London home surrounded by the iconic bold prints and patterns that we love and that House of Hackney have become so well known for all over the world. It's exciting for us to see a deVOL Kitchen with such a distinctive style, it's quite a different look to our recent projects and we would love to know what you think. #deVOLKitchens

A classic colour combination in The Coach House Kitchen. The island is painted in ‘Pantry Blue’ and the base cupboards are ‘Damask’, both of these colours have cool bluey grey undertones and contrast with each other in quite a dramatic and beautiful way without being too much. If you're a Londoner keep your eye out for the latest issue of Edition magazine, it features this kitchen on the front cover and looks so good! #deVOLKitchens

Sometimes you just want a little place to perch not a statement to shout about. Helen's Stool is simple and classic in its design and works so well with the effortless style of our Shaker furniture. #deVOLKitchens

A polished Cararra marble worktop and copper sink are features we love to include in our designs because they are luxurious and beautiful and make the space feel so special, but the most important thing to us is to design a kitchen that is completely practical and functional. Notice the two simple Shaker peg rails in The Strawberry Hill Kitchen, they aren't things you'd automatically be drawn to but they are a handy little extra, conveniently located next to the sink and perfect for hanging tea towels. Our aim is to create a space that keeps the customers' time in their kitchen as enjoyable as possible, even if that just means making the drying up a little easier. #deVOLKitchens

'Clerkenwell Blue' is a brand new shade to be added to the Sebastian Cox Kitchen range and how fabulous does it look in the very glamorous new display at St. John's Square. We already have a 'Clerkenwell Blue' shade in our Shaker range of paints, we created it for the Classic English and Shaker cupboards in the main showroom when we first opened St. John's Square. There's no denying it's a beautiful and timeless colour and it has gone on to be a firm favourite with our customers ever since. It felt right to continue this blue up into the deVOL Townhouse and seeing it on these Sebastian Cox cupboards as a dye, a more subtle wash of colour, rather than a paint, it just looks so good. The natural textures of the band-sawn beech are still visible and combined with that shiny copper worktop and splashback, it's created a little piece of kitchen heaven. #deVOLKitchens

When you visit us at Cotes Mill you can explore the little outbuildings that we have transformed into ceramics and metalware studios. If you pop your head in you may even catch Claire and Steph creating these beautiful deVOL Crackle Pendant Lights. Claire constructs the conical shade using a type of stoneware clay called crank, it is pored into a plaster mould which is incredibly porous and quickly absorbs moisture from the clay, causing it to set. The excess clay must be poured out of the mould at just the right time to ensure the pendant is the perfect weight before being left to dry completely. Once glazed and fired, the shade is brushed with an iron oxide solution to create the lovely crackle effect. This is when it's passed to Steph to make the metal cuff using a technique called ‘raising’ which involves forming a metal sheet over a stake. The cuff is tidied up and treated to give the fixture an authentically aged finish. This video gives you a little glimpse at the fascinating process but you can watch the full thing on the Ceramics and Metalware page of our website. #deVOLKitchens

Pantry Blue and aged brass has been a favourite pairing of ours for some time. Here it's done on a big scale with a six metre long sink run, lots of tongue and groove panelling and warm Iroko worktops. This combination never fails to impress. #deVOLKitchens

A closer look at the delicate leaves and flowers Rosie has hand-painted on the backboards of the new Curiosity Cupboards in the Mill House. We'll soon be offering this bespoke painting service to our customers, so Rosie can come to your home and decorate your walls or cupboards with her perfect little paintings. #deVOLKitchens
