I love traveling, but there is nothing more grounding for me than being and creating in my own kitchen. I've just finished making this delicious jug of almond milk! Being dairy free for some may seem like a limitation, but for me it's been a world of opportunity for new creations. Before going dairy free and gluten free, I had seasonal allergies, digestive issues, malabsorption problems, and chronic fatigue. Since making these dietary changes, not only is my digestion improved, my energy levels are better, and my overall health and metabolism have improved. A staple substitute for milk has been making almond milk. Almonds are high in Omega 3s, which promote youthful skin and hair, support endocrine function--thyroid, adrenal, and reproductive, and help with cardiac function. They also are full of Magnesium! In Chinese Medical Nutrition, almonds are warming, slightly sweet, qi moving, lubricating for the intestines and beneficial for lung conditions. These properties make almonds great for those with sensitive digestion. Ayurvedic nutrition considers almonds to enhance spirituality, intellect, and reproductive ability. Almonds are powerhouses 💪🏼 But all things considered, do what makes you feel good and alive!
Almond Milk Recipe:
1 cup organic, raw almonds
4 cups alkaline water
1 date (optional)
Dash of Himalayan Salt
Dash of Madagascar vanilla extract
1. Soak almonds for 24 hrs in alkaline water.
2. Drain almonds, rinse, put in blender with 4 cups of water, dates, vanilla, salt.
3. Turn blender on and blend until smooth (in a vitamix I do this with the smoothie setting 2 times)
4. Strain milk using nut milk bag or cheesecloth
5. Enjoy!! 😋
