Often times in racing, unexpected things happen at unexpected times and can take you by surprise. Unfortunately, yesterday I was stunned to hear via a press release email that my son @cooperabbott120 and I along with newly crowned 2017 AMA National Hare and Hound and 2017 WORCS Pro Champion @sutherlin205 were no longer on the Purvines Racing team. I’d like to thank Ron Purvines for an amazing year and am proud of the significant accomplishments the team has made this year. Unfortunately, the unexpected timing and abrupt nature of this development leaves Cooper and I suddenly looking for sponsors and a bike brand to continue our success and program for the 2018 season.
Cooper had an amazing season in his first year racing professionally full time and at the early age of 19, I'm confident he has a very bright future ahead. He will be racing the WORCS series, the AMA Endurocross series and other selective series races (Big 6, Sprint Hero, Hare Scramble, Hard Enduro, ISDE Qualifier, AMRA, MX, etc. for 2018). I will be doing the AMA Endurocross series as well as other select high profile events and races. I'll also continue to work closely with the industry magazines for PR in addition to doing PR for AMA Endurocross, including doing promotional TV and media at the events along with the popular DA8 Endurocross Training Schools the night before the event. I'll also be putting more focus back into working with my DA8 Athletes and also looking for a part time job in the industry (if you know of any good opportunities). We're driving to the @kc66foundation Ride Day at Glen Helen right now, but wanted to get this out to everyone since you've probably heard the news. I feel really bad for Gary Sutherlin, especially after winning two major national championships this year, but I know someone would be crazy not to pick him up for next year with everything he's accomplished.
Thank you again for all the support. Life has definitely been testing our family a lot lately, but we are champions and we are always looking for a positive way to move forward. I love this sport and the industry and will continue to give it my all!!! ❤️💪🏼✊🏼 @da8training @da8strong @da8apparel
