One of the biggest mistakes that business owners make is trying to appeal to everyone.  They scatter their message willy nilly all over the place hoping that someone will notice and are disappointed when nobody does.

You have to target your message to appeal to the people you want to get noticed by.  To win the sales game, you have to get unmissable to the people that matter.

Think about the game of darts: You have to aim in order to hit the board. If you don't, your dart can go anywhere - and you may not be popular.  If you hit the board, you score.  But .. to win the game you have to hit the right score on the board and the big points come when you hit the bullseye.

There’s no harder job than selling, especially to sceptical, overworked prospects who hear about ten new “solutions” every day to problems they’re not entirely convinced apply to them.
In recent years there has been a shift in the market. Many people are now actively resistant to a push sales strategy. That passive aggressive, hard sell approach of the past is no longer winning sales. Today, people are looking for a more consultative and inclusive sales approach. They want a conversation.

🙍‍♀️ Answer FAQs. Answer common concerns and hesitations to buy. Encourage people to contact you for a free chat, sample or demo. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉 Share background stories about you! Take photos of your products and how they are made or your workshops or events.

As a small business owner you often feel as if you are treading water. Ask me what I achieved on any given day and my answer could be, ‘everything and nothing’. Staying focused on the top 20% of things you must do to move your business forward is easy to say.  But life has a habit of imposing itself on your priorities and getting in the way.

You need to constantly refocus yourself. To step back, take a breath and remind yourself where you're going and why you want to get there.
If there are three things a person needs to be successful in business those things are: consistency, resilience and persistence.

The world of selling is changing ... fast.  Today’s pitches aren’t about selling, they’re about starting a meaningful conversation.

Instead of memorising a canned pitch about your service or product, you engage in natural-flowing conversation in order to ascertain whether you can be of help or value to the listener.

You share information about what you have to offer. You provide examples of how people have used your service or product successfully. You answer questions and you ask them too.
If hard selling and cold calling is not your thing then this selling style will be great for you. It is not an approach designed to feel like you’re selling something. Instead, it feels like you’re trying to help.

Pitching, with the intent to be helpful, works in every situation. You just need to tailor your approach to fit your audience and your goals. Get to know your audience, the problems they want solved, and be prepared to overcome their objections while showing how you can solve their problems.
