Love isn’t always easy, but you don’t always want to believe me. Sometimes your heart has to break, not to let anyone out, but to give yourself the ability to breathe better. You want it when it’s easy. So you put “blessed” in your about me. But when it gets difficult you are nowhere to be found. Tough love is not your best achievement. The simpler the better, the easier the more you are a believer. But love isn’t always easy and sometimes it’s so tough. Unless it’s really not meant to be, it’s not a reason to make your heart walk away. There are times where you have to stay and conquer the storm, and I know it’s the last place you want to be. I can tell by the shift of your eyes to conversations of the past. Sometimes love is tough without a choice. You can love someone that died and not know what to do with your emotions. You can be incredibly misunderstood and your heart is waiting to be treated the way that it should. And maybe you had to walk away because timing was just not right. It’s not always rainbows and butterflies initially but that doesn’t mean they don’t come after the storm. Tough love is never easy. Sometimes, it leaves you hanging. Other times, it makes you weak to your knees. But of all the things it does to you, the best by far is that it makes you patient and a firm believer (if you allow it to).

It’s okay to create boundaries and say no to things -
If you’re like me and find it difficult to say no, then welcome. Let’s learn to create safe boundaries together. It can be so burdening to say no when you don’t want to get involved with something and then it gets suffocating to do it half heartedly. .
I’ve done this way too many times before because I always thought saying no meant I wasn’t giving fully enough but when I said yes to everything, I only felt drained and buried in exhaustion.
.
I’m trying to learn to be selective with what I say yes to because I’ve learned that if I won’t put all my love into it, then I don’t want to do it at all. .
Selecting what you say yes to really saves your heart the ache and bitterness. Say yes to the things that will get you closer to God and no to the things that do the opposite. Whether it’s attending gatherings or working on something. .
Something that helped me was looking into different ways to say no. Ways that were a little gentler but also maintained self respect.
Do you find it hard to say no? And what helps you find your ground? ☄️

The reason you’re lonely is because you’ve given up. You’ve pushed yourself away from you, your heart away from God, and your soul away from your prayers. You’ve tried to find comfort in others, but you’ve ended up with shattered pieces that could not withstand the heat of your pain. An unanswered prayer led you away from the One who made you, and so you replaced Him with them. This path that you walk upon is so crooked and dark; take a wrong step and you’ll fall right through the cracks. It’s no wonder that its foundation will disappoint you. Anything made by man is nothing compared to what God has created for you. All these people surround you but your heart is so empty and frail. Does it surprise you? If it doesn’t best for Him, will it beat for anyone? You’ve given up and it’s shame because being thankful will give you more. Instead you walk away, you walk backwards to your own dismay. You reach the cliff and you’re about to fall off, and nobody is there because everyone has their responsibilities and their worries about the comforts of their own graves. You search and search for the light to keep you up so you don’t pull yourself down. Verses upon verses start to fill your heart with mercy. You no longer want to drown. Prayers upon prayers keep you stable. You begin to have faith in the words you pray. Your hope returns because you see the miracle of you sticking around. You gave up but for you He had a plan. And here you are with a smile that was once a frown. Sometimes when you least expect it God’s mercy is there to make sure you pull through and keep your feet on the ground. Alhamdulilah.

So you asked me about missing the ones you love dearly, and I thought about gasoline and the smell of cigars. Neither of which I liked, but the smell was a direct connection with a valuable chapter in the story of my life. I thought about the way I missed someone because all I could do was miss them, since they were forever gone. I felt sad for a little then smiled, as I remembered the reason for missing anyone. It’s a reminder from God to pray for them. The more you miss them, the harder you pray. And in a way you’re also praying for yourself and your heart, because they become a sweet part of who you are. •

Many of you keep up with my Q+A on instastory. I’m impressed by all the support this brother received, it was truly heartwarming. I’m also surprised by how some of you thought that males didn’t have deep emotions. Unless this mentality changes, male suicide rates will not go down. Posting this here since it’s been requested.
Also, would you like the Q+A posted here more often? What would you like to see more of? There’s a good amount of questions I need to get through, what do you think is the best way to do it? Thanks!

I wish you were more confident, but instead you let their words consume you. You put your hope in them or him or her, and every little thing they say about you has a firm grasp on your heart and your emotions. On days where you light up, it’s because their compliments made you jump for joy. And when you’re feeling incredibly down, it’s something that they intentionally said to make your heart frown. They treat you like a puppet and it’s because they know they can control your emotions. You claim it’s all in the name of love, but tell me, where is the love if you can’t remember the last time you loved your own self? A lack of confidence will destroy you. Giving yourself to someone whose confidence is lacking so they feast on your own by taking you apart will never leave you happy, it’ll only leave you broken. And then they’ll put you back on the shelf because who wants a puppet with missing pieces? Missing pieces that they took and threw away, because they did not care to preserve you. But maybe being on your own is what you need to realize your confidence only comes from within. You can rebuild the pieces better than before, so that the next time someone comes into your life, they come to compliment you. Nobody is meant to control your confidence, especially since God made you so perfectly imperfect. •

Hey guys, I know that there’s a preconceived notion that Muslims have superpowers that prevent us from having depression, but sometimes those superpowers don’t get passed on and sometimes people fall into depression. With that being said, these tips are essential if you feel like your onset of depression is getting bad again. It’s my duty to help you help yourself, so I couldn’t help but pass it on. Tag anyone that might need it. •

It’s toxic, but you hold onto it. You built a home within the familiarity, and although it’s shaky and hazardous, it’s the place you learned to call home. Detaching yourself from what you are used to is difficult. Although you know better is available and it’s what you deserve, you don’t want to risk it and end up in the same situation you are in now. Can it get worse? Not a chance. So why take the risk when you’ve already paid the price and grown accustomed to your suffering? These are the conversations that run marathons in your mind. These are the words that keep you at bay. They are thoughts that are stimulated by fear and injected by insomnia that comes to you as a drug that refuses to leave your side. As long as you continue to reject faith, then your condition will persist. It is a choice you make daily because you lack the strength to do what is good for your soul. Your heart is overdosed on sleeping pills and it’s been so long since you have felt something that will spark a revolution in the chapters of your story. You grew comfortable with the pain and it held you back from living life to the potential you deserve. Everyday faith knocks on your door and you reject it, but there will come a time where you will open it because you threw away the pills and your heart needs the company. You will find that faith has promised you a home that is far better than the destruction you cautiously live in. It will be scary but you will hold faith’s hand and forward you will go. You will look back every now and then. Parts of you will plead with you to go back to the suffering, but you will have come too far to return. Through faith you will have found a new home. With God by your side, the suffering will become a stranger that is unknown. •

One of my biggest regrets for both you and I is the desire to rush life. I had time to spare but I was in a rush this morning. The white car in front of me was taking its time, and I just wanted to honk at it so it could pick up its pace. I was caught up with wanting to get to my destination without enjoying the journey. Unfortunately, I shared the same feelings as many people on the road. I was agitated with this car and I had no idea who was in it. Rather than honk, I told myself to be patient as they turned. It was in that moment that I decided to take a look at the back of the car as it drove away. What caught my eye was a simple phrase that was so valuable and necessary. “لا تنسى ذكر الله." “Do not forget the remembrance of God.” Instead of pointless thinking, I began to remember my Creator. Rather than feeling frustrated with the driver, I kept them in my prayers. My mood changed from feeling frustrated to feeling grateful. Every opportunity to breathe is an opportunity to remember the One that matters the most. It’s more important to plant flowers through gentleness and patience than it is to let weeds grow through carelessness and neglect. •
