Big thanks to all the kids in Year 5 (all 180ish of them) at Gosforth Junior Academy for getting involved in National Map Reading Week.

My time as a teacher is done (for now) but hope I'm invited back next year to do it all again.

Great school and BIG respect to all the teachers out there - I'll stick to being outside where its a little quieter 😄

It's National Map Reading Week 😀

This is the tools of the trade that I'm taking to a local school to hopefully inspire them to be skilled map readers and navigators of the future.

Cracking night at Last Night Of The Proms thanks to generosity of Brian Burnie of Daft as Brush - Cancer Patient Care.

Top music and hospitality, and great to be a small part of the upcoming 7000 mile adventure. £30,000 raised with all that money supporting DAB locally.

It's safe to say being a 2017 #GetOutside champ is cracking👍

Heres to many more years of giving a little inspiration to get more people outdoors.

Fancy applying to be a champ?

It was like another Birthday this weekend when I inherited a box of maps and other outdoor goodness.

Highlights include Lake District map from 1963, The Cheviot Way of Life Book and not forgetting the out of date (2006) Kendal Mint Cake.

Wise words well crafted by Wainwright.

Thanks to all the men, and women, of Ordnance Survey who work hard helping us to GetOutside.

I wonder what AW would make of augmented reality!

Loving the new AR feature in OS Maps.

Couldn't resist a visit to The Sill to test it out on the roof.

Throwback to earlier this year and some navigation training with the GetOutside champs and Ultimate Navigation School.

Looking forward to getting back to the Peak District this weekend for more of the same.

I see contour lines in my sleep!

Currently approaching the 2000th mile of mapping for Daft as Brush - Bluebell Bus route.

The round Britain & Ireland walk starts next year and I've already picked some best bits for when I'm going to get my boots on!

Big thanks to Ordnance Survey for supporting my sizeable task of plotting each days route - 550+ of them!

Get involved and #GetOutside.

I'll just leave this here...

Rope swings and free biscuits.

Two things you should never pass without trying them.
