The Main Event
This week we had tigers in the water for three days running. Each day grew progressively better than the previous, in terms of both opportunity for us and action from the tigers.
On the third day it all took place a little earlier and the light was the best of the three days. This time I opted to use a two times converter on my 400 2.8, which would make cropping to the final image less severe. Happily that combo works well, at least for Nikon anyhow.
However the combo started to work loose and by the end of the morning I was concerned the camera and lens would all fall apart. On returning to the lodge I found the camera mount screws working loose. Thankfully a crosshead screwdriver made for an easy fix.
Despite this, all the pictures retained good sharpness and focus. It was just as well, as I do not expect a day like yesterday’s again anytime soon.
